Since ancient times, there have always been schools dedicated to preserving and teaching the very highest truths and mysteries of life — places where people could go to remove themselves from the distractions of day-to-day life and one-pointedly immerse themselves in a supportive, nurturing environment, emerging enriched and transformed. Today, and especially in the West, this tradition has been l

argely replaced by schools that almost exclusively emphasize rational learning. We find very few schools that focus on discovering the real nature of the Self. The Amrit Yoga Institute is such a place, dedicated to serving and awakening the very highest within all who come here with trainings, workshops, and spiritual lifestyle opportunities that nurture the soul. The Amrit Institute is situated on a secluded 6-acre property in a lush setting with a towering canopy of large, shady oaks, and formal gardens with Chattahoochee stone decks and walkways. The Main House and Recreation Lodge can accommodate small programs and a number of guests. Our lakefront property and beautiful grounds provide a tranquil, restful, natural setting ideal for restoring your health and reconnecting to the spiritual source

Ongoing Local Community Classes and Programs:
The Amrit Yoga Institute offers classes, satsangs and kirtans throughout the year to the public. Most programs are free to the public, although donations are gratefully accepted.

The past can move quietly within today.

Memory can shape the way life appears.

Presence begins when awareness sees the pattern.

In the article The Hidden Prison of Time, Gurudev Shri Amritji explores how emotional memory stress can influence the way you experience the present moment.

The article teaches that many reactions arise from memory-events stored within the body, nervous system, and energy body.

These impressions can continue shaping perception long after the original experience has passed.

Over time, memory becomes conditioning. Conditioning becomes expectation. Expectation becomes perception.

This is why life can sometimes feel as though the past is happening again through a present person, situation, or conversation.

Through I AM Yoga®, the invitation is to begin seeing these patterns with witnessing consciousness. As awareness becomes steady, the present moment is experienced with greater clarity.

The body is met with compassion. The energy that has been held in old impressions can begin to complete its movement.

This teaching offers a deeper understanding of why Presence matters.

Presence allows you to recognize the difference between what is happening now and what memory expects to happen again.

International Yoga Day is a reminder that yoga means Union.

It is a return to the deeper relationship between body, breath, energy, awareness, and the Presence that lives beneath the movements of the mind.

On June 21, Amrit Yoga Institute will gather with practitioners around the world for a special International Yoga Day Live Global Gathering with Gurudev Shri Amritji and Staff.

This free gathering will center on Yoga for Healthy Aging from the perspective of I AM Yoga®.

Healthy aging is supported through the conservation of life force, the reduction of stress-driven energy expenditure, and the return to a more conscious relationship with the body, breath, and inner state.

The gathering will include opening practice, Darshan with Gurudev, teaching, Q&A, and community connection.

Participants may join live online through Zoom, and an in-person option is also available.

This is open to new students, returning students, teachers, practitioners, and anyone sincerely interested in the teachings.

Many of us were never taught how to meet stress, reactivity, and inner patterns from a deeper place.

This gathering is an invitation to pause, practice, and return to the living meaning of yoga as Union.

Join us for this global moment of practice on International Yoga Day.

The body remembers what the mind passes over.

Energy waits for awareness.

The ego forms around what remains unseen.

Gurudev Shri Amritji teaches that emotional energy, when held inside, becomes part of the unconscious structure through which life is experienced.

What could not be fully felt at the time becomes stored in the body, breath, and nervous system. Over time, these stored impressions become energetic blocks, like knots of undigested experience where prana and awareness no longer move freely.

This is how the architecture of the ego begins to form.

Each block carries a memory.

Each memory shapes perception.

Each repeated feeling begins to influence the way you see yourself, the way you meet others, and the way you respond to life.

In I AM Yoga®, the path of practice brings awareness back into these places. Through witnessing consciousness, what was once frozen can begin to soften. Breath, energy, and Presence return to the places that were waiting to be met.

As awareness deepens, identity becomes less bound by old impressions. The veil of emotional memory stress begins to thin, and the deeper I AM within you becomes easier to recognize.

Control rarely identifies itself honestly.

It arrives as planning, as responsibility.

It is fear, in different clothing.

Control does not arrive announcing itself as fear. It arrives as planning, as preparation, as responsibility, as taking initiative.

So we let it run, often for years, without recognizing that the engine underneath is the same contraction fear is - only externalized, given somewhere to put itself.

Gurudev Shri Amritji's line on this is quietly devastating, "When you seek the solution by attempting to change, manage, and control forms, your actions become extrovert; you depend on the undependable world of change."

The cost of operating from control is that your inner state becomes downstream of the external world - and the external world is, by structure, undependable.

This is why life lived from control feels increasingly tight even when, from outside, it looks like it is working. You manage one variable; another shifts.

The work is endless because the premise is wrong.

Look at the most managed area of your life. How much of the managing is for the situation, and how much is for the feeling inside you it is trying to produce?

Creation is one movement.

Preservation is another.

Change is also sacred.

At Amrit Yoga Institute, we remember Swami Kripalvanandji through the depth of his teaching on the divine order within Sanatana Dharma.

In his explanation of the bhajan "O Shankara Dada," Bapuji spoke about Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwara, or Shankara. Brahma is connected with creation, Vishnu with sustaining, and Shankara with dissolution or change.

Then Bapuji gave the deeper understanding: "God is one, but he accomplishes three different functions."

This teaching matters because it helps us see life differently.

What appears to the mind as separate movements may be part of one intelligence.

Something begins. Something is sustained. Something changes form.

The reactive self often clings to one movement and resists another, wanting creation without dissolution, stability without change, comfort without surrender.

I AM Yoga® invites us into witnessing consciousness, where the movements of life can be seen without immediately turning them into conflict.

Creation, preservation, and change are not random forces against us. They are part of the field in which Presence is discovered.

Bapuji's teaching reminds us that yoga is not only practiced in stillness. It is practiced in how we meet the changing movement of life.

The disturbance rarely begins outside you.

The present often reveals old memory.

Awareness shows where reaction truly lives.

What you experience as a disturbance may appear to be caused by the person, conversation, or situation in front of you. Yet Gurudev Shri Amritji points us toward a deeper understanding of reaction.

The present moment does not create the entire disturbance. It activates what has already been recorded within your own memory field.

This is the nature of emotional memory stress.

Once a memory has been recorded in the body and mind, it does not disappear simply because time has passed. It continues to surface through reactions, judgments, and repeated patterns until it is fully witnessed and integrated.

The ego-mind usually does not recognize this. It looks outward and says, "This person disturbed me," or "This situation caused my discomfort." But in I AM Yoga®, the practice is to see more clearly.

The outer event may activate the reaction, but the charge belongs to what is already stored within.
When this is witnessed, blame begins to soften. Awareness returns to the place where freedom is possible.

If this teaching helps you see reaction differently, share it with someone who may need this reminder today.

Practice is easier to remember together.

Presence is easier to feel in community.

Retreat gives the body time to listen.

In ordinary life, attention is constantly being pulled outward. There is always another task, another responsibility, another movement of the mind asking to be followed.

The deeper work of yoga begins when you step into a space where the usual momentum can soften.

A community retreat creates that kind of space. Through satsang, shared meals, meditative I AM Yoga® practice, rest, and Darshan, the teachings are not only heard. They are entered through the body, breath, and Presence.

The September Community Overnight Retreat offers this experience in a simple one-night format at Amrit Yoga Institute's Forest Side Campus in Salt Springs, Florida.

This gathering takes place September 5–6, 2026 and includes all sessions, lodging, vegetarian dinner, and breakfast.

The schedule includes satsang with Chandrakant, an evening session, a meditative all-levels I AM Yoga class with Nirali Lauren McCrea, and Sunday Darshan with Gurudev Shri Amritji. Also featuring Bhavaani Deanna Gray and Bhairav Curt Gibson.

If you are seeking a grounded way to return to practice, community, and the living teachings, this overnight retreat is a simple place to begin.

You believed the situation was holding you.

It was not. It was the fear.

The captor is not what you thought.

When something difficult arrives, there is a clear sense that the situation itself is what has you. The mind tracks it. The body tightens around it. It feels obvious that this thing is the source of the disturbance now running through you.

Gurudev Shri Amritji is precise about what is actually happening. When you are afraid, you are not caught by the event.

You are caught by fear.

The event is the trigger.

The fear is the prison. And the two are not the same.

This is the entire opening. As long as the event is identified as the captor, the only available work is to change, manage, or escape it; and events have their own movement, mostly not inside your control.

The captivity does not lift, because it was never about the event. It was about the inner contraction the event activated.

Bring one situation to mind that feels like it has you. Is it the situation, or your fear of it?

If you are seeking more than temporary relief, this is a doorway into the deeper practice of I AM Yoga. Visit https://amrityoga.org/on-demand-courses/i-am-yoga/ to learn more (link in bio).
