Many years ago, Jenny and I attended the Nightfire Nationals in Boise, and had the honor of meeting a group of people who would influence our future in a major way.
Mousie Marcellus had brought the Winged Express to run with the Fuel Altereds. Not being one to pass up the opportunity to meet a legend, I struck up a conversation with Mousie. Of course, he took to Jenny right away. If you knew him, you know he was a sucker for a pretty lady. We talked about our Fiat (which at the time, was put away), and Mousie introduced me to his buddy, Terry Roche, who had a car very similar to mine back in the day. We hung around their pit area, meeting more of the crew, and the driver, Mike Boyd. I met a gentleman named Tom Hunnicut that day. Never heard of him before, but it turns out he was pretty legendary as well... We also met our now long time friend Spencer Sharp, and I believe that was my first conversation with the now well known photographer Darrel Conrad. We spent a lot of time with those guys that weekend, and it remains as one of my favorite days at the races.
On the way home from that trip, inspired by our new friends, Jenny mentioned that we should put the Fiat back together....and that it needed a blower...
The rest is history...
Mousie has joined Terry and Tom at the great dragstrip in the sky...Rest in peace my friend. Thanks for the memories!
