Utah Youth Sports Giving Day starts on Saturday at 6:00! Join us at Bee Charitable Night at the Salt Lake Bees game to kick off Utah Youth Sports Giving Day ⚾ We’ll be tabling along with many other local organizations who are participating in Utah Youth Sports Giving Day. Make sure you stick around for the 7th inning stretch when Rise Up School of Dance dancers will be leading the crowd in the singing of Take Me Out to the Ballgame! Stop by our table and cheer for our dancers if you’re at the game! We’re so excited to share that Rise Up School of Dance is participating in the inaugural Utah Youth Sports Giving Day! From September 12 to 26, Utah Youth Sports Giving Day will bring our community together to help more kids get in the game. RUSD be raising funds to support our studio so that we can continue to make dance accessible to all through scholarships and a supportive dance community! 🧑‍🩰

All donations made between September 12 and September 26 will be matched, allowing you to double your impact in the RUSD community. Our community means the world to us, and we appreciate any support that you can provide during this campaign! We had a blast at our Family Potluck last weekend! We are so grateful for our community, and we loved getting to spend more time with our dancers and their families!

✨ Meet Shelley! ✨

Shelley is RUSD’s Administrative Director! 🧑‍🩰

Shelley has brought her love of organization and passion for supporting others to Rise Up School of Dance since the start, but as paid staff over the last 7 years. She grew up in Southern Mexico and moved to the US in high school. After earning a degree in Bilingual Education from the University of Arizona and marrying her awesome husband, Brad, she taught primary grades for a few years before choosing to stay home and raise her three daughters. With 25 years as a Household Executive, 15 years of home-educating her kids through high school, and administrative experience in a church setting, Shelley now enjoys putting her skills to work for RUSD. Though she has only taken one summer of ballet herself, Shelley has spent many years learning and experiencing dance through all three of her daughters. She loves building relationships with dancers and families and supporting them through every step of their ballet journey.

Fun Fact: Shelley speaks 3 languages and loves all things cross-cultural including listening to Mexican music, making new friends from places all over the world, watching international sub-titled dramas and trying foods from other countries. Let her know if you can help her perfect making Turkish coffee!

✨ Meet Miss Savanna! ✨

Miss Savanna is RUSD’s Assistant Director and one of our incredible instructors! 🧑‍🩰

Savanna began ballet at 13 in Arlington, Virginia and trained in ballet, modern, jazz, and tap. During high school, she performed as a supernumerary in professional productions of The Nutcracker at the Kennedy Center with American Ballet Theatre and Ballet West, and as a soloist in her studio’s student company at festivals and competitions. Savanna earned her BFA in Ballet Pedagogy, along with Minors in Psychology and Nutrition from the University of Utah. She is certified in the ABT National Training Curriculum for Pre-Primary through Level 5. Since joining Rise Up School of Dance in 2017, she has loved sharing encouragement and expertise with students, helping them grow in artistry, confidence, and joy, while fostering the supportive, inspiring environment the studio is known for.

Fun fact: Savanna likes to sew and has sewn quilts, bags, and gifts for friends! One of her goals this year is to start sewing her own clothes!

✨ Meet Miss Natalie! ✨

Miss Natalie is our incredible new instructor! 🧑‍🩰

Natalie has been dancing her entire life! She started at her mom’s ballet studio, which was originally founded by her grandmother, and she’s been dancing ever since. She began teaching in 2016 and found that she absolutely loves choreographing and creating performances. Her brain is always fizzing with new ideas. She’d say her favorite style to teach is ballet and jazz, but her favorite styles to do are easily jazz funk and hip hop. She’s a sucker for a heavy bass and a beat drop. Natalie is excited to start teaching and helping the students at RUSD grow into the dancers they were meant to be!

Fun fact: Natalie started working as a background extra when she was 11 and got to be featured in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series!

✨ Meet Keaton! (that’s me!) ✨

Keaton is on RUSD’s Development Team and manages RUSD’s social media, website, and marketing! 🧑‍🩰

Keaton has a strong passion for ensuring that all members of her community have access to the resources they need to thrive! Originally from Texas, she received her bachelor’s in environmental science and Italian studies from Wheaton College (MA) and her master’s in geography from Oregon State University. She worked in higher education for 9 years, with roles in sustainability, student affairs, basic needs, and teaching, before entering the nonprofit space. She is currently the Executive Director of a small food security nonprofit called Pantry to Porch and is thrilled to be joining the RUSD team after volunteering with RUSD for over three years (you may have seen her as a party parent in CSBN a few times)! In her free time, you can find Keaton reading, walking, thrifting, crafting, and listening to showtunes!

Fun fact: Keaton rarely listens to “regular” music and is almost always listening to her 1400-song Musicals playlist. She has seen 15 musical theatre productions this year!
