Diamond Baird Lure Company Robert Baird builds custom, handmade fly reels, creels, spinning lures and bait cages. He produces glass beads and carves mother of pearl for some works.

Robert Baird uses various materials to produce his lures and reels: sterling silver, gold, nickel-silver, copper and brass. He hand forges all of his hooks from spring steel, both barbed and barbless. All of the Blades are hand planished and tempered. Every part used in producing the reels are produced by Robert Baird. All of his spools are sterling silver cups with nickel axle. All ivory used is

fossilized. The hard rubber materials on the reels are produced specially for his work. He sometimes uses precious stones in his bearing caps and counter balances. His creels are all built on antique wicker baskets. He uses only undamaged baskets that have not been leathered before. The highest grade oak tan tooling leather and kangaroo buckstitch lace are used. He mixes his own dye colors. Colored baskets are water based stains. All of his baskets are fitted with antique or custom bird and trout knives with custom scabbards to match the creel.
