I want to take a moment and congratulate Edward, Shaun, and Michael on their recent belt promotions.
Edward has been diligent in his training and was promoted from Yellow to Senior Orange Belt.
Shaun has been with me for several years, even before the pandemic. At one point he wanted to quit so that he could have more time to play video games π
but I'm glad he stuck with his martial arts training. While I'm proud of all my students, I have to admit that little Shaun is my pride and joy (sorry, kids lol). He's small for his age, and usually has to face bigger opponents, even in tournaments, but he's shown perseverance, an indomitable spirit, and a determination to improve every single day. And now, being promoted from Orange to Green Belt, he is officially the highest belt I have promoted to, of the students who started with me as "no belts"/beginners. I've promoted another student to Senior Brown Belt, Zara, but she came to Iron Dragon as a Blue Belt and Mr. Rose promoted her to Purple. And this next student I'm going to talk about, Michael, came to our school as an Orange Belt from Mr. Ronnie Isenhour.
Now, to talk about Michael. He had a good base from his previous school, but I'd like to think I've improved his overall striking skills tremendously. I'd like to take most of the credit, but his own efforts need to be taken into account. Just as the previous students I've mentioned, he is diligent with his training and seeks to improve every single day, but one thing that separates him from the rest is his keen attention to detail, whether it be on forms or striking techniques. It must be that Army background lol. His forms are on point, his point sparring skills have improved with the help of seminars, constant drilling, and tournament participation. Even his boxing skills, old school kickboxing AKA high-kick kickboxing, and even low-kick kickboxing skills (international rules) have seen growth and improvement. He'll be getting into the point kickboxing (semi contact) circuit soon, so keep an eye out. With all that said, he was promoted from Green to Probationary Purple Belt, skipping his Blue Belt.
I'm looking forward to the continuous growth of ALL my students, but let's take a moment to congratulate these three hard workers.
