JENNIFER JOHNSON-MFA

Dancenter Salisbury is excited to have Jennifer Johnson as our Contemporary Dance instructor in our Master Class Series!

Jennifer Leung Johnson is a multidisciplinary dance artist, educator, choreographer, and screendance artist. Based in Maryland she serves as faculty at Dancenter Salisbury and Adjunct Professor of Dance at Salisbury University.
She earned her MFA in Dance from Montclair State University and holds a BA in Modern Dance Performance from Brigham Young University. Her teaching spans ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, improvisation, somatics, yoga and creative pedagogy.
Her choreographic works have been presented in concerts, galleries, festivals and virtual exhibitions, including the Salisbury Dance Festival, of which she is the founder and organizer, Art League of Ocean City, Salisbury University Art Galleries and Japanese American Cultural & Community Center in Los Angeles.
As a performer, she has presented work throughout the US and internationally, including work with Tonya Loackyer, Armando Duarte, Jiamin Huang and locally, the JDY Dance Theatre.

Her Master Class will be held Monday, July 27th from 6-8 PM at Dancenter Salisbury. Tuition is $60 and you may register here:

MASTER CLASS INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT!!

Emmi Layton

A graduate of Salisbury University, Emmi earned her degree with a minor in dance. She was an active member of the Salisbury University Dance Company and served as the company's Assistant Director, supporting the artistic and educational development of the program.
She trained extensively throughout her childhood, traveling nationally to study and perform alongside acclaimed choreographers and industry professionals. In addition to her training, she has studied with both the Jon Lehrer Dance Company and JDY Dance Theatre.
Emmi serves as co-choreographer for the James M. Bennett High School Rock & Roll Revival and is currently an instructor at Dancenter Salisbury.
Known for her passion for performance and storytelling, Emmi is dedicated to fostering confidence, creativity and artistry in the next generation of dancers.
She will be teaching an upcoming Master Class in Musical Theater Dance this coming Monday, July 20th from 6-8 PM at Dancenter Salisbury. Cost is $60 for the evening and is open to students with some experience in either theater production or dance training.

INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT!.....MAI BAKER
Born in HIroshima, Japan, Mai has been dancing for over 37 years and teaching for over 15 years. Her studies have included Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre dance. She received her training at Asako Akashi Music Theatre , STEPS in Hiroshima, and the Academie De Ballet de Kyoto in Kyoto Japan.
She is passionate about helping her students achieve their potential and enjoying the process. Mai's classes are energetic and full of the joy of dance.

She will be our instructor for Hip Hop Monday, July 6th and Jazz, Monday July 13th. Classes are 6-8 PM

Classes are for intermediate and advanced level students ages 10 and above.

INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT!

Join us this coming Monday evening, June 29th for our Summer Master Class Series Ballet class, taught by Jennifer Yackel.

Jennifer is a dance artist whose extensive career has taken her from ballet companies (Richmond Ballet, Ballet Theatre of Maryland) to contemporary companies including Jeanne Ruddy Dance and Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company. A former instructor at the Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia, she has had choreography presented in various venues including the American College Dance Association Festival, Salisbury University, and Dixon Place to name a few. She is director of JDY Dance Theater, a modern dance company that serves the Eastern Shore.

Her class will be held Monday June 29th, 6-8 PM for dancers ages 12 and up with a minimum of Intermediate experience.
