Here are two of our most recent belt promotions at Saline Jiu-Jitsu, Violet and Vincent!

These two have put in a lot of hours on the mats, showing up consistently and putting in the work to improve. That dedication shows up with them, every single class.

Both bring great attitudes and a willingness to learn and help others improve.

Last weekend one of our students, John-Mark Zehnder competed in his second tournament at NAGA Detroit. He put in the work leading up to it, and his results showed on the mats.

Best part? Come Monday he was right back on the mats for class, doing what actually makes you better, showing up and getting back to work!

Next week is Bring a Friend to Class Week at Saline Jiu-Jitsu.

All youth and adult students are encouraged to bring a friend to train with them. Your friend can train FREE all week and experience what we’re all about.

Invitation cards are available at the gym. Be sure to grab one for your friend and don’t forget to fill out the back before they come in.

If you’ve been thinking about trying a class, send me a DM and I’ll extend you a personal invitation as well. We’d love to have you on the mats!

Saline Jiu-Jitsu's first official competition is in the books! We had a great day on the mats at Grappling Industries Detroit. All our team members who participated worked hard preparing for today, and that work paid off.

John-Mark Zehnder – Gold
Malachi Zehnder – Silver
Nalla Ocsni – Silver
Nate Dryer – A hard-fought 4th

Extremely proud of these guys as a coach. We showed up as a team, left it all on the mat, and walked away with lessons, experience, and memories you can only earn by stepping out there and testing yourself.

Special thanks to the friends and family who showed up to support the team. And respect to all the competitors who shared the mats with us today.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a special moment from this past weekend. On Saturday, I was honored to receive my first-degree stripe on my black belt. It was an amazing and humbling experience, especially because it happened in front of Lucas Leite, a champion in the sport, and thanks to my coach Todd Williams who's been a constant inspiration to me and countless others, both on and off the mat. The room was full of black belts, and the energy was just incredible. But even more than that, there were people of all skill levels on the mats, all learning and working hard to improve together. I'm grateful to be a part of this community, and for the community we're building at Saline Jiu-Jitsu. Thanks to everyone who's been part of this journey. Here's to many more milestones together!

🔥 Huge congrats to Mr. Chris Slat on leveling up with a well-earned stripe! 🔥

Christopher Slat started his training at Monroe Jiu-Jitsu, earning his bluebelt under Professor Todd Williams. SJJ wound up being closer to his neck of the woods, and he jumped right in when I opened the doors here at Saline Jiu-Jitsu. He’s been putting in the work consistently and it shows. This stripe isn’t just tape—it’s a symbol of progress, effort, and commitment to the grind.
