The SVE Scholarship Committee would like to congratulate the scholarship recipients for the 2022-2023 school year for their academic, athletic, and community contributions. We were fortunate enough to distribute more than two scholarships this year. Below is more information on the recipients:
Faith Mora(Honorary Recipient) attended North Monterey County High School, then went on to run Cross Country and Track & Field at Hartnell College. She contributed to the team and also was excellent in the classroom. In addition to sports and school, she has also volunteered at local organizations/events. Her goal is to become a Doctor. She will continue her running career and education at Cal State Northridge. (Pictured first)
Frankie Maciel(Honorary Recipient) attended Everett Alvarez High School and ran Cross Country and Track & Field at Hartnell College. He contributed to the team, was a youth leader at his church, and worked at Starbucks and then the Beerded Bean while attending Hartnell. His career objective is to become a Math Teacher. He will be attending Southern Oregon University as a student-athlete. (Pictured second)
Brandon Escalante attended North Salinas High School and competed in Cross Country and Track & Field at Hartnell College. Aside from contributing to the team and excelling in the classroom, he has extensive community involvement and was a part of MI CASA & MILE Program on campus. He will be studying Kinesiology at California State University Monterey Bay. (Pictured third)
Hiroki Terada attended North Salinas High School and then went on to Hartnell College where he ran Track and Field competing in the 100m, 200m, 4x1 & 4x4 relay. In addition to keeping up a high GPA and competing as a student-athlete, he worked at Starbucks while attending Hartnell College. He aspires to become an Aquarist or scientific diver. He will continue his studies at California State University Monterey Bay. (Pictured fourth)
