Stoked to partner with Tres Litros Beer Company on a slew of good shows this month!

FIBArk weekend is here, and we're turning up the volume for a good cause.

We're stoked to have Salida Mountain Trails co-sponsor this year's live music line up. Throughout the weekend (and the rest of June), we'll be collecting donations to support the trails we all know and love - because great beer, great music, and great trails just belong together.

Thursday - Bighorn
Friday - The Skinny
Saturday - Warsaw Poland Bros
Sunday - Marshland & The Desert Nudes

Stoked to have Rocket Ramps revamping the Salida Bike Park! Skilled builders with a rad vision.

Strong start to Phase 1 of the bike park this week! New lines are taking shape, and the elevated starting platform is coming together nicely.

Trailhead access will reopen for the weekend, though the bike park will remain closed until work is complete next month. We'll need to temporarily block off the trailhead again next week to load in the last materials. Stay tuned for info. Until then, get out and enjoy the trails this weekend!

We're making old trails new again. ✨ For years, sections of Hooligan have been steadily eroding, changing the trail's character and hindering its intended role within the broader trail network. So this spring, SMT's trail crew, our Strike Team volunteers, and Southwest Conservation Corps crews completed 132 square feet of rock armoring on three steep, loose, and highly erosive sections of trail. This work will restore Hooligan to its original glory, and help it hold up better for years to come. It's a great example of how rock armoring can help protect a trail from ongoing erosion while keeping the challenge and character that make it special! Check out the before-and-after photos and see the transformation for yourself!

We had a fantastic turnout for our National Trails Day project on Sol Train East! 22 volunteers worked their butts off in the hot sun to improve flow, enhance worn-down features and retread and rework a whopping 700 ft of trail! Shoutout to Subculture Cyclery for hooking our crew up with ebikes each field season. Those things came in so handy for hauling gallons upon gallons of water to the worksite so we could properly shape and compact features to last.

Good news / bad news, and we'll give you the good news first: We're breaking ground on Phase 1 of the Salida Bike Park! 🥳 SMT has hired Santa-Fe based Rocket Ramps to reimagine the current pilot project, and we could not be more stoked to partner with them. The crew will begin work Monday June 8 to rebuild the existing jump lines from scratch, using prefabricated wooden features to create consistent, durable takeoffs optimized for skill progression. (Durable features means fewer maintenance needs, too.)

In tandem, we'll be working with City of Salida Parks and Recreation to elevate the bike park's starting platform and create a dedicated return trail within the park boundary. We expect all work to wrap up in late July.

Now for the bad news: Starting Monday 6/8, the bike park will be closed to the public for safety, and to prevent damage to in-construction features. For the first few days of the project, trailhead access around the bike park will also be limited so the crew can load in machinery and materials. Trail users accessing the Arkansas Hills from the F Street Trailhead should use the posted detours(Spiral Drive, Chili Peppers/Burnpile, or County Road 177 to Rise-N-Shine).

This first phase will transform the current bike park into something more polished, progressive, and fun, while laying a strong foundation for the larger bike park vision the community helped shape.

We're just getting started—and you can help make the full bike park vision a reality. To support this project, head here to make a donation: https://salidamountaintrails.org/bikepark/
