Consistency builds results… but doing the same exact workouts forever can actually hold you back.

Your body adapts fast. When you repeat the same exercises, same weights, same structure for months on end, progress slows down. Muscles stop being challenged, strength plateaus, and growth becomes harder to achieve.

That is where cycling your workouts comes in.

Switching things up does not mean starting over. It means being intentional with how you train:
• Change exercises
• Adjust rep ranges or weight
• Shift focus to different muscle groups or movement patterns

This keeps your body adapting, improving, and getting stronger over time.

A good rule of thumb:
Cycle your workouts every 4 to 8 weeks.

That is enough time to build strength and see progress, but not so long that your body fully adapts and stalls out.

The goal is not randomness.
The goal is progression with purpose.

Train smart, stay consistent, and keep giving your body a reason to grow

Progress isn’t always fast.
Sometimes it’s slow. Sometimes it feels like nothing is happening at all.

But that doesn’t mean it’s not working.

Today, for the first time in my lifting journey, I put full plates on the bar for my deadlifts.

45 lbs on each side.

That might not seem like much to some people, but for me… it’s everything.

With degenerative disc disease, arthritis in my spine, two herniated discs, and one ruptured disc, this didn’t come easy. This took time, patience, and doing things the right way.

No shortcuts. No ego lifting. Just consistency.

This is your reminder to celebrate the small wins.
Because those ā€œsmallā€ wins? They’re actually the big ones.

Keep going. Even when progress feels slow. It’s still progress.

Monday we do Legs!

What’s your Monday Split?

Most people say abs are made in the kitchen.

Nutrition does matter, but there is something people skip over.

If you never train your abs, they will never develop. Period.

Your core is a muscle group just like your legs, glutes, or shoulders. If you want it to grow, it has to be trained consistently and with intention.

Doing a few random crunches at the end of a workout is not the same thing as progressive core training.

I train abs every day because they respond to consistent work just like any other muscle.

And before anyone says anything, no, these are not perfect washboard abs. I am not even on a cut right now.

But they are there because they are trained like every other muscle group.

When body fat comes down during a cut, they will show even more. That is how this actually works.

Nutrition reveals abs. Training builds them.

Stop treating core like an afterthought and start training it like it matters.

Iron & Ember Fitness is about building strength that lasts, not chasing shortcuts.
