After years of riding and teaching, I realized that most instruction focuses on what to do, not why you're doing it.

Why is the throttle so scary? For so many riders, it feels like a wild, unpredictable switch. One minute everything is fine, the next you're getting thrown back and holding on for dear life.

The truth is, that fear comes from a simple misunderstanding. We've been taught to focus on our hands, but the real secret lies in our body.

This isn't just a throttle control drill; it's a force awareness drill. It's the most important lesson I teach because it completely reprograms your relationship with the bike. You learn to prepare your body for the force of acceleration before it arrives. When your body becomes the anchor, your hands can stay light and precise.

The result? The throttle stops being a source of fear and becomes a predictable, reliable tool. This is the foundation for real confidence.

If this clicked for you, share it with a rider who needs to see this. What was the biggest "aha" moment that helped you finally get comfortable with the throttle? Let's discuss in the comments!

Let's talk about one of the scariest things for a new rider: whiskey throttle. We're often told to 'be gentle on the throttle,' but that's only treating the symptom, not the root cause.

The real problem is that we use our handlebars as an anchor for support. In this video, I break down why this happens and teach the "feeling" you're looking for to solve it forever. It's a "Barney style" lesson that will change how you think about your bike.

Have you struggled with this? Let me know what you think of this approach in the comments.

I spent years chasing speed instead of safety, and all it got me was a titanium rod. This is the story of how two big mistakes led to a completely new mission. The POV crash footage is tough to watch, but it’s why this channel exists.

My promise is to break everything down 'Barney style' for the beginner and everyday rider who just wants to have fun and get home safe. If that's you, you're in the right place.

Ever get so tense during a race you can barely hang on? I found the weirdest solution that completely changed how I ride. I felt ridiculous doing it at first, but the results don't lie!

What do you do to stay relaxed on the bike?

Before the expert riders jump in—yes, we know there are times to sit! 😉 But this is a beginner guide.

If you've ever been told to "just stand up" and felt like it didn't help, it's because that advice is missing the two most important parts. This is what your buddies forgot to tell you about controlling the bike with your hips and pegs.

Let me know in the comments if this helps and I should cover more!

I hear this all the time from new riders: "I don't want to slow you down!"

I made this video to show what's really going through my head when we're out on the trails. It's probably not what you think! It's a huge win-win for both of us.

Share this with a new rider who needs a confidence boost!

You can try all the coaching drills in the world, but sometimes the best lessons are complete accidents. 😂

We struggled for years to get our son to consistently stand on the pegs—a key skill for control and speed. We tried everything. Then, during a race, his seat literally fell off the bike. He had no choice but to finish standing up, and the habit has been locked in ever since.

Sometimes you just have to let the track do the coaching!

Had an awesome opportunity to test a brand new Beta 450 RC from the guys at Dan's MotorSports Outlet !

A lot of you know I switched from a 450 motocross bike to a 300 two-stroke specifically because I got tired of fighting the aggressive power and terrible gearing of an MX bike in the woods. I always wondered if there was a bike that could truly do it all—rip in the open desert but still be manageable in the tight stuff.

This Beta 450 might be the closest thing to it. The power is unbelievably smooth and it ate up the desert whoops like they weren't even there. But as you'll see, it's still a 450 and demands respect (wait for the end 😂).

Huge thanks again to the team at Dan's for the opportunity. If you're looking for the ultimate desert weapon that can still handle the trails, this bike is a serious contender.

What do you think? Is a purpose-built 450 like this the answer, or do you stick to a 2-stroke for the woods?

The most important lesson for any new rider. Before you get discouraged, check your setup. It can be the difference between a great day and wanting to quit.

I had to share this proud dad moment. We were out riding some tough trails and my 13-year-old son was on my old FC250 race bike for one of his first real rides. He had a pretty good crash on this rocky hill climb, and my first thought was just making sure he was okay.

But as we were picking the bike up, he looked down the trail at one of our friends who was also struggling and said, "even he is having a hard time." It wasn't an excuse, it was a realization that the challenge was real, and he got right back on and finished the climb. It’s not about not falling; it’s about how you get back up. So proud of this kid!
