INTRODUCTION TO HANDGUN SAFETY ANDFUNDAMENTALS
“BE YOUR OWN FIRST RESPONDER!”

This comprehensive course provides the foundation of knowledge and skill necessary to safely handle handguns in a comfortable learning environment. The class coves many topics including the purchase, storage, transportation, carry, and cleaning of your firearm, as well as the laws regarding self-defense. Students will learn how to efficiently use their handgun. Working from the holster, performing reloads, clearing stoppages, and correctly manipulating the trigger to maximize accuracy. Taught in a relaxed hands-on environment.
COURSE OUTLINE
- Class is Approximately Six (6) Hours in Length (Including Short Lunch Break)
- Responsible Fi****ms Ownership and Safety in the Home, Workplace, and Vehicle
- Range Etiquette and Best Practices While Training
- Safe Use and Handling of Fi****ms
- Potential Dangers (pe*******on, ricochet, target identification, accidental discharges, etc.)
- Ready Positions
- Components and Operation of Modern Pistols
- Types, Components, and Purposes of Modern Ammunition
- Administrative Loading and Unloading of Pistols
- Fundamentals of Basic Shooting (Stance, Grip, Sight Alignment, Sight Picture, and Trigger Control)
- Preventative Maintenance (cleaning, maintenance, inspection, and safe storage)
- Static Shooting Positions
- Concealed Carry Considerations
- CCW Qualifications will be available at the conclusion of the class for women wishing to apply for their NJ Carry Permit

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
- Quality Functional Semi-Automatic Pistol or Revolver
- 2-3 Magazines / Speed Loaders
- Magazine Pouch
- Dominant (Strong Side) Hip or Belt Mounted Holster
- Wraparound Eyewear
- Hearing Protection or Earplugs
- Appropriate Range Attire
- Optional Loading Devices
- 200+ Rounds of Factory Ammunition
