How to Stay Motivated!
I hope the new year reached you all well. The holiday season is over and we are all ready to get back into the swing of things. This time of year motivation runs higher than other times. I'm here to give you three tips of keeping that motivation going all year long.
1) Think Long Term
-You are more than likely getting back to your routine of eating healthier and exercising more frequently. That is great but often times a very short lived experiment. You absolutely have to think of the big picture. Long term plans. The short term is easy. Workout the majority of the days of the week. Take them day by day and enjoy the process. If you don't have a close idea of where you want to be this time next year my guess is you will spin your wheels and wind up back where you are now. Don't let that happen. You don't have to write goals down on your fridge or tell everyone(although both of those help tremendously) but you do have to have an idea of what you want to achieve.
2) Keep It Simple Stupid
-I say this one all the time. You don't need magical diets that have specific patterns and kick out certain items during certain days of the week or certain meals per day. What you need to do is to simplify your diet and program. Focus on showing up, not how many days a week is your goal. We write meal plans for everyone so that you know exactly what to eat and when. Print off all of the meal plans and make a favorite recipe list, cook it and then eat those more than you eat garbage. Its really that simple.
3) Get out of your own way!
-Motivation is a funny thing. When its high we achieve great things and then BOOM something happens. You might get a tiny injury that breaks a pattern of getting in your workout and then two months goes by and you have lost all motivation to 'start over.' Just remember there is no starting over. With consistency comes results. If you become consistent with an activity that is high enough intensity wise you will more than likely become successful unless you are eating burger king every meal. Just get out of your own way. If there is a minor setback, focus on consistency. Some days will be bad and some will be great. That's why we don't preach 'beast mode' or 'puke in the bucket' type workouts. Its not really about this one workout. Its about how consistent you can couple them together the majority of days per week over a long period of time.
There you go. I took a different approach in this article instead of giving you tips like writing your goals on your fridge and posting sweaty selfies on Instagram everyday.
Just remember consistency trumps everything. The good days will increase, the bad ones will nearly disappear and you will feel amazing this time next year!
