A Celebration of Life

"Brandon Landmark"

We would like to invite everyone to a Celebration of Life for Brandon. We will be holding service at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at the Salem Seventh Day Adventist Church, 240 West Main Street, Salem, SC 29676. We will have a short 30 minute service in the sanctuary followed with a slide show presentation in the fellowship hall. There will be a time for everyone to enjoy hearing or telling funny or heartfelt stories about Brandon following the presentation. Food will be provided by the church including Mac and Cheese, his favorite.

On Sunday, November 23, 2025 the Dive Shop will host a hotdog cookout at 12:30pm for everyone to come together and do what he enjoyed most, a cookout with friends. After we have finished the food, we would like to invite everyone who wishes to join us to place his ashes at some of the dive sites Brandon was so instrumental in putting into the lake. Dive sites that will continue to entertain and support divers for years to come.

Brandon gave so much energy to create and promote what divers have and will enjoy for many years. He was there the night the Chinese Junk went into the lake. His passion and ideas were instrumental in creating the Halloween Graveyard, Pirate Dungeon, Underwater Tic-Tac-Toe table, navigation trick-or-treat candy reefs, and is credited with sinking the 24 foot cabin cruiser at the Diver’s Ramp. Brandon’s legacy is a part of Jocassee diving history; there he can rest and share the joy of other divers as they explore the sites he put so much of himself into.

It is with a very heavy heart that we make this post today to inform our dive friends that Brandon Landmark passed Wednesday evening. We have always been a family run and operated business and he was a son, brother, uncle, and friend to those who still work here today. He was an amazing person with a personality larger than himself. So much so, his enthusiasm was contagious and, try as you might, it was impossible for it not to wear off on you. Strangers became friend shortly after introductions and the energy in the room would change every time he came in. Laughter was his calling card. His stories and perspectives made everyday occurrences humorous, the mundane bearable, and the rough times a bit less jagged.

Brandon had a passion for people and being in sales was a natural job for him. He had a drive for helping others. He worked at our shop for many years and many late nights. Before he came here full time and after he left to pursue other opportunities, he assisted us with many projects in the background. While here he was able to help us grow and make so many friends along the way. He was instrumental in the formation of the Jocassee VIP day by taking our annual lake cleanup to another level with over 200 divers converging on Lake Jocassee to sweep the bottom for trash. He was part of multiple crews that helped bring in many of Jocassee’s underwater attractions at the wall and diver’s ramp. He gave so much to the sport of diving and for divers that will continue to enjoy his efforts for many years to come.

Being an insurance agent over the last 10 years gave him the opportunity to help people in their time of need. Brandon spent hours of his personal time helping grieving families dealing with heartache. Every person who walked through our doors and every client he had felt the personal touch he gave to his work; more importantly though, he made everyone feel like they were a part of his family. What a wonderful presence and family to be a part of. If you knew Brandon, you were blessed.

Please help us celebrate his life and the enthusiasm he gave so freely. If you have a picture of or with Brandon, please share it in the comments so we all can share his smile.

Due to some unforeseen family circumstances, we will be postponing the celebration of his life until mid to late November. We will post details of the celebration as they are made and everyone is welcome to attend. In the meantime, give those you love a hug for him.

We received so very untimely news yesterday of the passing of our friend Richard Patchett AKA "Richard Sidemont". We like a lot of other people have been wondering when Richard would return from his latest adventure. COVID made everyone uncertain when it came onto the world stage. I for one just thought Richard went to a deserted island in the Caribbean to sit it out. We all suspected this was the situation and were wondering when he would return. Sadly that will not be the outcome we all hoped for. We learned that he passed over two years ago but his family was never notified nor any attempt to find someone that cared about him. We all know he meant a lot to each of us and it breaks our hearts to know now.
We will give notice to you all when we have any details about a service or celebration of life as the information is available. Keep Richards family and friends in your prayers as we all adjust to this information and the loss of our friend.

Hope everyone is safe out there! Everyone here at the shop is ok. The shop however, not so much. We are without power and water. There’s also the little issue of a tree on our compressor building. We will be closed this weekend while we make repairs and assess all the damage. Stay safe out there!

Our 29th year cleaning up the lakes in the upstate. We have been doing yearly cleanups on Jocassee for the last few years, but everyone has done so well, we don’t find that much anymore. For the eagle eyed divers out there you might recognize one of the pieces of trash. Don’t worry, we left an upgrade in its place. Come check it out on your next charter with us!!
