We are two weeks away from Stop #2 at Keowee!

I am expecting a record crowd for this tournament. Plan to be there early and in the water by 6:30am, we will go as soon as it is safe light.

This tournament will pay out to the biggest Spotted Bass and Biggest Largemouth, $100 a piece. Also will pay biggest Non-Black Bass $100, Closest to 3.00lb $100, and will be a $50 "beer and gas money" drawing afterwards for everyone who is at weigh in that doesn't finish in the money. Also everyone who enters the tournament will be entered into a drawing for a free entry fee to a future tournament.

Remember you get to drop 1 tournament this season, so you can still factor into the points race if you missed our first event.

You only have to fish 3 of them to make our Championship.

We had 23 boats at Jocassee and it paid out over $2000 to the top 3.

I have just a few hats left and will have them on the 30th, $20 a piece.

Lake Murray Results
August 16th, 2026

Heavy hitter Tyson Alvanos dominates at on a hot summer South Carolina Sunday. He dropped a big bag of 23.73lb on the Second Cast scales. Tyson took home $900 and a nice win versus what ended up being a 19 boat field full of big names and fast rising up and comers.

Overall, it was hot from the start, the weather and the fishin'. From most reports the lake seemed to be fishing great early on in morning but faded as the day went on. Water temperature was around 90 degrees. We heard lots of stories of "missed and lost big ones" at weigh in, so opportunities seem to be there to really get them if the day we're to go right...

Here is what Tyson had to say about his win..
"I had buddies from Lanier and Hartwell who told me about the Second Cast Open coming to Murray this weekend. It was a good crew there. My key to the win was landing on two good schools early. They were blowing bait out of the water on my first few spots and I was able to capitalize on it with traditional herring baits. I didn’t catch a fish after 8:30am. Lot of luck on my side that I started on places where they were chewing because everything vacated the areas after. If I ran in a different rotation, I might not have caught a limit. Typical herring BS. Layout of derby was awesome. You made it clear early it wasn’t going to be some cutthroat thing. Sometimes tournaments suck the fun out of fishing. I liked yours. The 3lb side pot was the coolest thing I’ve seen done."

Congrats to Tyson on the W!

Great day for the club as well taking in a couple extra hundred dollar bills to give away in our Championship.

7 different teams took home some money!

Thanks to all for coming out to fish in the heat and making it a great tournament!

Results from Stop #1 at Lake Jocassee
August 9th, 2026

It was a great start to the fall trail for Second Cast.
We had 23 boats come out to fish the event and took on 39 members to start this season. The tournament paid out over $3000 to our Championship, the top 5, big fish, closest to 3.00lb, biggest non bass, guess the winning weight and various drawings at weigh in. Thanks to the attendance, all of our great sponsors and Joe donating his winnings back to the club we took in enough to guarantee $1000 to our points race purse and $1000 to 1st place in our Championship. These purses will continue to grow throughout the fall but not bad for 1 event!

It was beautiful weather for an early August bass tournament up until about 1:00pm and it got a little warm out there. Water temps were in the low 80s. An epic storm came through right in time to weigh in and made it extremely inconvenient for everyone involved. We were able to let it pass after about 30 minutes and weigh em. Thanks for everyone's patience during that mess! What a storm.

Congratulations to everyone who won some money (9 different teams)

Here is what the top 3 teams had to say about Stop #1 at Jocassee

Greg and Joe weighed a mega bag anchored by 2 fish over 7 pounds to take home over $1000 in winnings
"Greg ran the show today in his boat, and put on a solid performance. I(Joe) only caught 4 fish all day out of the back of the boat but did manage to land a 8.16lb yellow carp on my ned rig that made for a little fun. After a slow start to the morning with only 3 small keepers we abandoned the scoping fish and headed up to the bank mid morning. Greg caught a 7 pounder pretty quick and kind of dialed us in on what we needed to do. He caught another nice keeper so we stuck it out "shallow" for most of the day after that. He threw up in a very small shaded area about 12:45pm and caught the 8 pounder to make for one of top 5 best days we have ever had at Jocassee even though we only caught around 10 keepers all day long. Most were caught on soft plastics, buzz baits and knock off sea urchins. Shout out to Mark Meadows for the baits!

North Carolina's Sam Jennings fished solo and brought in a nice sack of bass at 15.08lb to finish 2nd and take home $600 in winnings.
" I got lucky and caught a few key fish early schooling on top water and on minnow after they went down on FFS and the rest came on a worm dragging long deep points with structure prior to the storm, not really a pattern just moved around a lot.. I had very few bites but capitalized on all but one really good fish that broke me off in the timber on a long point, never had the opportunity to have the winning catch or big fish but for sure could have bettered my over all weight with that one fish.. Second Cast is a great Trail"

Lake Hartwell local Grayson Brewster and Lake Burton local Baylor Ronemus teamed up for a 3rd place finish with 14.80lb anchored by a 5.64 Largemouth taking home $400
"Today was our first time on Jocassee in 10 years or so. Our game plan was to run shallow early and see if we could get a good bite or two. Luckily we landed a 5 on a topwater start the day. From there we chased shade, laydowns, and anything we could find that was a little different. When it was all done we ended up catching fish on a couple different topwaters, coike, and a worm. We loved the layout of the tournament with the multiple opportunities to win. 3 lb fish, side pot, etc. We're looking forward to fishing as many as possble with hopes of getting to fish the championship"

Our next event is Sunday, August 30th at Lake Keowee. New members are always welcome!! You only have to fish 3 to make our Championship. If you missed the first one, no worries as you get to drop one event if you want to compete in the points race.

Shout out to our newest sponsor Morrison Diesel for boosting the big fish payout yesterday!

Adam Smith and Rusty Smith drop 18.39lbs of Largemouth Bass on the scale for a blowout victory in the Second Cast Bass Club Sunday Open Tournament out of Green Pond. They also caught the biggest fish of the day at 4.95lb that made for a great Sunday payday. Nice work fellas!

Great turnout today! We had solid conditions until around noon and then the sun finally came out and it got HOT! The Club was well represented today, we had 11 members fish the tournament and had some new comers that showed a lot of interest in fishing with us in the future. The fishing was tough for most but thats part of it in the dog days of summer.

Cody Lingefelt takes home the bragging rights and a big wad of cash as the top finishing Second Cast Member on a special day with his son Eli. Eli said he did let his Dad catch a couple. Congrats Guys!

Ethan and Hunter nailed the closest to 3.00lb pot today with a 3.00lb spotted bass on the nose. Nice Cast!
