Results from Stop #1 at Lake Jocassee
August 9th, 2026
It was a great start to the fall trail for Second Cast.
We had 23 boats come out to fish the event and took on 39 members to start this season. The tournament paid out over $3000 to our Championship, the top 5, big fish, closest to 3.00lb, biggest non bass, guess the winning weight and various drawings at weigh in. Thanks to the attendance, all of our great sponsors and Joe donating his winnings back to the club we took in enough to guarantee $1000 to our points race purse and $1000 to 1st place in our Championship. These purses will continue to grow throughout the fall but not bad for 1 event!
It was beautiful weather for an early August bass tournament up until about 1:00pm and it got a little warm out there. Water temps were in the low 80s. An epic storm came through right in time to weigh in and made it extremely inconvenient for everyone involved. We were able to let it pass after about 30 minutes and weigh em. Thanks for everyone's patience during that mess! What a storm.
Congratulations to everyone who won some money (9 different teams)
Here is what the top 3 teams had to say about Stop #1 at Jocassee
Greg and Joe weighed a mega bag anchored by 2 fish over 7 pounds to take home over $1000 in winnings
"Greg ran the show today in his boat, and put on a solid performance. I(Joe) only caught 4 fish all day out of the back of the boat but did manage to land a 8.16lb yellow carp on my ned rig that made for a little fun. After a slow start to the morning with only 3 small keepers we abandoned the scoping fish and headed up to the bank mid morning. Greg caught a 7 pounder pretty quick and kind of dialed us in on what we needed to do. He caught another nice keeper so we stuck it out "shallow" for most of the day after that. He threw up in a very small shaded area about 12:45pm and caught the 8 pounder to make for one of top 5 best days we have ever had at Jocassee even though we only caught around 10 keepers all day long. Most were caught on soft plastics, buzz baits and knock off sea urchins. Shout out to Mark Meadows for the baits!
North Carolina's Sam Jennings fished solo and brought in a nice sack of bass at 15.08lb to finish 2nd and take home $600 in winnings.
" I got lucky and caught a few key fish early schooling on top water and on minnow after they went down on FFS and the rest came on a worm dragging long deep points with structure prior to the storm, not really a pattern just moved around a lot.. I had very few bites but capitalized on all but one really good fish that broke me off in the timber on a long point, never had the opportunity to have the winning catch or big fish but for sure could have bettered my over all weight with that one fish.. Second Cast is a great Trail"
Lake Hartwell local Grayson Brewster and Lake Burton local Baylor Ronemus teamed up for a 3rd place finish with 14.80lb anchored by a 5.64 Largemouth taking home $400
"Today was our first time on Jocassee in 10 years or so. Our game plan was to run shallow early and see if we could get a good bite or two. Luckily we landed a 5 on a topwater start the day. From there we chased shade, laydowns, and anything we could find that was a little different. When it was all done we ended up catching fish on a couple different topwaters, coike, and a worm. We loved the layout of the tournament with the multiple opportunities to win. 3 lb fish, side pot, etc. We're looking forward to fishing as many as possble with hopes of getting to fish the championship"
Our next event is Sunday, August 30th at Lake Keowee. New members are always welcome!! You only have to fish 3 to make our Championship. If you missed the first one, no worries as you get to drop one event if you want to compete in the points race.
Shout out to our newest sponsor Morrison Diesel for boosting the big fish payout yesterday!
