Most of us spend our lives believing every thought that enters our head.
“I’m not good enough.”
“I’m behind.”
“What if I fail?”
But just because you think something doesn’t make it true.
One of the most powerful skills you can develop is learning to step back and observe your thoughts instead of becoming them.
The same is true for emotions.
You can feel anxious without becoming anxiety.
You can feel angry without becoming anger.
You can feel fear without letting fear make your decisions.
Thoughts and emotions are like clouds passing through the sky.
You are the sky.
The next time your mind starts spiraling, try this:
Instead of saying, “I am anxious,”
say, “I notice anxiety is present.”
That small shift creates space between you and the experience.
And in that space, you get something incredibly valuable:
Choice.
