🥋 A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Martial Arts Family

Julee and I would like to sincerely thank all the grandmasters, instructors, guros, sifus, senseis, students, family members, and friends who joined us for my Birthday Workout Seminar.

Thank you for celebrating my birthday with me and for coming together as one united martial arts family. As I shared earlier, each of us is an important piece of the puzzle. When the martial arts community comes together, we create a truly beautiful picture.

We deeply appreciate everyone who trained hard, shared their knowledge, showed respect, and participated with such a positive spirit. The wonderful conversations about martial arts, life, food, and our hopes for the future made the day even more meaningful.

We would also like to recognize everyone who helped prepare the dojo, cook and serve the food, shop for supplies, run errands, organize the activities, and handle the many details that made this special day possible. Every contribution, large or small was noticed and greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your friendship, dedication, love, and support. You made this birthday celebration and workshop a wonderful memory that I will always treasure.

Until we meet and train again, may we continue to learn from one another, support one another, and strengthen the bonds of our martial arts family.

Every new skill reminds me that mastery isn’t a destination, it’s a journey.

My newest hobby is knife throwing, and every throw teaches me something. Some hit the target, some miss completely, but every attempt is a lesson. The target doesn’t judge me, it simply gives me honest feedback.

Life is much the same.

Discipline gives us consistency.
Focus gives us direction.
Faith gives us the courage to keep going.
Humility gives us the wisdom to listen and learn from others.

I’ve learned that success isn’t built on perfection. It’s built on the willingness to make mistakes, study them, adjust, and throw again.

Never be afraid to challenge yourself. Step outside your comfort zone. The skills you develop today and the obstacles you overcome will shape the person you become tomorrow.

Keep learning.
Keep growing.
Keep throwing.
And never stop aiming for your target.

Success isn’t the absence of failure, it is the result of refusing to quit learning.

Drumming up excitement at Suncoast Martial Arts Summer Camp! 🥁

This past week's Friday field trip took our students to the New Port Richey Public Library for a powerful and moving performance by The Tampa Taiko Japanese Drums. Julius and Matthew didn't just perform, they educated. They shared the rich history behind Taiko drumming, explaining its cultural significance and the discipline and teamwork required to master it.

Then came the rhythm. The energy in the room was electric as Julius and Matthew showcased incredible skill and passion through every beat. Our students were captivated, and the connection between the discipline of Taiko and the discipline they practice in martial arts wasn't lost on any of us.

The best part of the day came when volunteers were invited up to try it themselves. Hanshi Eric didn't hesitate to join in, and by the end, every single student had the chance to pick up a drum and experience the rhythm firsthand. Their faces lit up with excitement and pride.

We were especially fortunate to catch Matthew and Julius at their last show of the summer! A special thank you to the coordinator at New Port Richey Public Library for booking this incredible event and making it possible for our students to experience it.

Thank you, Julius and Matthew, for sharing your talent, your culture, and your passion with our Summer Camp family. It was truly an unforgettable experience.
