Charlotte Thunder 18U Come Back To Defeat South Florida Storm 18U

Charlotte Thunder 18U trailed by as many as seven, but came back to top South Florida Storm 18U on Saturday, 9-8.

Charlotte Thunder 18U opened the scoring in the first after Nate Pizzurro singled, scoring one run.

South Florida Storm 18U flipped the game on its head in the top of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 5-1. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Lucas Apgar that drove in two.

South Florida Storm 18U added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Julian Arango doubled to center field, Mason Campbell flew out, and Niran Perez doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Charlotte Thunder 18U flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring eight runs on six hits to take the lead, 9-8. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Cody Shock on a full count that drove in two.

Nate Pizzurro earned the win for Charlotte Thunder 18U. The pitcher gave up zero hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Cody Shock started the game for Charlotte Thunder 18U. The hurler gave up four hits and five runs over two innings, striking out one and walking four. Niran Perez started the game for South Florida Storm 18U. The starting pitcher surrendered seven hits and nine runs (five earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking four. Carter Powell appeared in relief for Charlotte Thunder 18U.

Jayce McKechney and Paxton Cooper each collected two hits for Charlotte Thunder 18U. Paxton Cooper and Cody Shock each drove in two runs for Charlotte Thunder 18U. Charlotte Thunder 18U didn't commit a single error in the field. Connor Smith had the most chances in the field with eight.

Lucas Apgar and Niran Perez each drove in two runs for South Florida Storm 18U. Jorge Milan went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead South Florida Storm 18U in hits. South Florida Storm 18U had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Jayden Heath and #8 led the team with two free passes each. South Florida Storm 18U turned one double play in the game.

Charlotte Thunder 16u Red and Charlotte Thunder 16u Blue both put in a good run making it to the semi finals on a very hot day. Coaches are proud of all the players for showing up today. Putting in the work and getting better! The best is yet to come!
