Something about summer at the gym just feels different.

School’s out. The days are longer. Familiar faces start showing up again.

Former staff drop in for a session. Friends who moved away stop by when they’re back in town. Someone dusts off their harness after a few months away. Someone else spends an entire afternoon climbing with people they haven’t seen in years.

No competition. No big ego. Just good climbing and good company.

These are a few moments Rowan captured around the gym this week, and they felt like summer and like home.

One of the coolest things about climbing
is watching kids figure out they’re capable of more than they thought.

A move they couldn’t do last week.
A fall they were scared to take.
The making of a new friend.
A little more confidence showing through.
And making their own tape gloves and waffles.

Summer Camp has been full of moments like these.

Today the setting crew was hard at work creating new boulders—including climbs designed to help prepare our Vanguards headed to Nationals later this month.

Introducing Rowan’s Remixes ⚡️
Thrifted, hand-dyed, bleach-painted, and one-of-one VV merch made by our very own .
Rowan has been experimenting with cyanotype, bleach painting, film, and art. These pieces bring all of that into the grungy climber scene in the best way. Each shirt starts as secondhand clothing and gets reworked by hand into something totally new.

No two are the same.
Just weird, wearable, handmade goodness.
Rowan’s Remixes are available now at the gym.
