Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee meeting this morning. Topics were an update to the Traffic Calming Program and updates to the bike map. The City's Comprehensive plan is the provides the guidelines and intentions for our laws. The City is planning to update the Comprehensive Plan to include language that would allow us increase the places we can add speed humps - effectively slowing down the traffic in high pedestrian areas. These are usually accompanied by some pedestrian signaling as well. This plan gets updated in the fall - stay tuned for updates.

Also the current City wide bicycle map includes trails, lanes, safety tips, and even different types of street layouts and how to navigate them on a bike. The City staff are looking for comments on this map to make it better. If you have comments please provide them to Alaina Grundy: [email protected]. They will only be taking comments for the next couple weeks. Comments will be incorporated into a new version in the fall. A link to the current map will be in the comments.

We cleaned up the trail on the west side last weekend. 5 brave volunteers picked up about 60 pounds of trash in the warm morning sun. Thank you to the volunteers for their dedication. Thank you Hugh for organizing!

We had so much fun at the Equality Florida Gala on Saturday night. Their silent auction and fundraiser was a big hit, raising more than in previous years. Supporting our friends, customers, and co-workers could not be more fun. The performances included dancing, singing and inspirational speakers.

Wednesday morning at 7:30 am the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee is meeting to look at possibilities for the MLK extension and the budget for the Complete Streets Program and the Bicycle Pedestrian Funding. Public comment is at the beginning of the meeting. See you at City Hall at 7:30 am!!!
