My business was built strategically, but if I had never evolved and grown and healed and risen again and again, I wouldn’t have ever been able to be the woman who can run the strategy or hold everything it’s created.

This is not what I everrrrrr dreamed I’d be doing. I was part of the Meredith Grey generation and I was sold out on the hospital setting. It was THE dream for me and I was really freaking good at my job. Being an empath, I was able to pick up on the things my patients couldn’t always say, and being an eternal student, the body gave me an endless subject to study.

Knowing all that I know now, it makes perfect sense that I needed to spend years in the hospital and the schools and private practice…

Knowing the work clinicians do every day, knowing the depth of impact we make in the lives of our patients, knowing the BS red tape bureaucracy we have to cut through to do our jobs… makes me the marketing strategist I am.

The biggest mistake I see people make is skipping the in-depth research required to know your audience on a level that allows you to make them feel seen. When I’ve been your audience or been in your shoes serving the same people as you, we create marketing that feels like serving but pays you like selling.

So if cool girls have cool jobs, and I get to sing the gospel of the life-changing work therapists, SLPs, OTs, PTs, physicians, yogis, injectors, and vets are doing for their clients… that must make me the coolest!

I never have better ideas for a new creation than I do when I’m in the middle of launching something that’s challenging my belief in myself. Never.

It’s my brains way of trying to keep me safe because if I’m distracted by a new hobby or new offer, I can’t put my all into my current launch, and if I don’t put my all into it, it doesn’t suck as bad if it doesn’t sell.

Right? Well yes but also, it definitely won’t sell if you half ass it.

I had a moment where I realized I wanted to see just how good it could get and I changed my focus from anything else (including my sales) to only focus on what I could control… social content, emails, and conversations. That’s it. Nothing else exists when I’m in a launch, I’ll look at the numbers when it’s over but my head is down and I’m focused on the factors I can actually control.

So before each launch, I make a Squirrel List. Every time my brain wants to chase the squirrel to a new hobby or new offer or literally anything other than social content, email, and conversations, I add that thing to my Squirrel List.

I come back to the list after the launch and if I still want to do the new hobby or build the new offer, I do. But most of the time, I don’t, and I can see that it was just a squirrel my golden retriever brain was trying to chase to distract me and keep me from getting my feelings hurt.

Head down.
Social content, emails, conversations.
Don’t. Chase. The. Squirrels.🐿️

That’s it. So simple. So freaking hard sometimes.

Every single one of those moments started with a decision I made before I had a single shred of proof it would work. But I DECIDED it would. So it did.

I had no money in the bank, no plan, and no one promising me it would pan out. I decided, went all in, and figured out the how on the way down.

People want to call it luck or talent or some special gene I got that they didn’t, so they get a nice clean excuse to stay exactly where they are, miserable and capped and telling themselves the story about why it’s just easier for me. It was not luck. By all accounts, I should not be the person I am, living the life I am.

It was a decision I refused to give up on until reality caught up with me.

You are one decision away from a completely different life, and you keep talking yourself out of it.

You wait to feel ready, you wait for the timing, you wait until the whole path is lit up and a “sure thing” before you’ll move one inch in any direction.

Your brain will build find the evidence for whatever you decide is true, so decide on something worth becoming.

I made another one of those decisions about the retreat I’m hosting in October. It’s four days, a house full of women who are unapologetic about their decision to make more of their life, where you walk in one person and leave another.
