Exactly one year ago, Twin Cities Fencing Club officially began practicing in our current space at Element Gym. It’s been a year of adjustment and building as we taped out new strips, learned how to efficiently set up for bouting, re-established our schedule, and got back to a familiar rhythm of training and teaching. And the changes aren’t over yet! We’re in the process of setting up our new office space at Element, where we’ll have an armory, some equipment storage, and a place for video review and classroom/group discussion when needed.
In the year ahead, we’ll continue to learn and grow as a not-for-profit. Our focus, as always, is to be a place where members can fence and work towards their goals in a supportive community, and where we can provide classes and instruction to people who want to learn and grow in the sport. If you participate in Give to the Max Day, please consider donating to the club using this QR code to help us with our priorities for the year ahead:
· Maintaining our training schedule and support local and regional competition
· Supporting our coaching staff and develop additional coaches so that we can increase class options, expand individual instruction, and provide tournament coaching
· Improving our training and office space while developing a long-range facility plan to support our club’s goals
· Continuing to develop our communications and administration technology and processes for ease of use
