Battle Creek Mountain Bike Trail

Battle Creek Mountain Bike Trail Trails open daily from 5am to 11 pm. Do not ride wet trails. Battle Creek Regional Park is located approximately 5 miles East of downtown St. Paul, off I-94.

Driving East on I-94, exit on McKnight Road and turn right (South). Drive South to Upper Afton Road. Turn right on Upper Afton Road and drive to Winthrop Street. Turn left on Winthrop Street, and drive approximately one block. Turn right, into the Battle Creek Community Center parking lot. Find a place to park - you're at the trailhead! The official trailhead is located directly South of the Community Center. Just head South across the grass, until you pick up a well-worn singletrack about 100 yards later. (Note: there is another parking lot available off Pt. Douglas Road - we don't recommend using it, as there have been quite a few break-ins at the Pt. Douglas lot.)
[edit]

Battle Creek offers quite an extensive network of trails, as compared to most metropolitan trail systems. In many areas of the park, it's easy to forget you're surrounded by suburbs on all sides. Battle Creek has something for riders of all technical abilities, with trails running the gamut from smooth, hard-pack ski trails to expert-level singletrack. The terrain is quite hilly, so expect the trails to give you a good workout. Although hilly, the climbs tend to be relatively short, with the longest single climb gaining approximately 110' in elevation. Trails are mainly fast hardpack, with a few sandy sections and a few rocks & roots.

Thank you National Center for Youth Development and some of our core trail crew working on maintenance projects tonight at BC. Building new trail is exciting but maintaining trail is the bread and butter that needs to be done over and over every year.

We couldn’t do it without great support from organizations like the national Center for youth development and our wonderful trail crew volunteers!

Even in all this heat, our trail crew volunteers were out yesterday trimming the overgrowth on Goat, Lower Goat, Cop Out, the top of Luge, Warm Up Loop and Little Laid Back Loop. Plus, dirt work on Poison Nettle and the jump on BC Connector. EIGHT dedicated volunteers out making your riding a little better at Battle Creek!

Battle Creek News Updates
1. We are again looking for folks to Adopt a Trail segment. With this you or you and your group agree to do general overgrowth trimming on a trail segment of your choosing. This usually ends up being three times a year. Use your own tools or coordinate with the trail crew to use ours. Message us here to sign up or ask questions. Thanks in advance!

2. Great news! We completed the middle section of Enchanted Forest last night! 🔥 🎉 Now if you enter it from the top of Sidewinder (just before you get to the double track that takes you to Goat), it's full length is about 1.2 miles. The first section is a slightly more difficult green.
