The future of shipping - or just a gimmick? Regardless, the ship is pretty cool. This is the new cargo ship called the Neoliner Origin passing Taylors Island this morning in the mist at dawn. It sails from France in Europe to France in North America (yes, France in North America - look up Saint Pierre and Miquelon, an archipelago near Newfoundland, Canada, is the last remaining French territory in North America,) to Baltimore. The structures on the deck are actually sails (yes sails) that are folded down as they are not currently in use. The sails are raised at appropriate times to supplement or subsittute engine power. https://www.neoline.eu/en/

Less stuff.
More sunsets, slower mornings, and conversations that don’t feel rushed.
That’s the kind of space worth making.

My sailboat *is* my therapist.

She just charges in parts, tools…
and the occasional piece of my sanity. ⛵️

My retirement plan?

Fix the boat. Sail it a little.
Fix it again. ⛵️

From STEM to Stern – our hands-on program for youth provides the opportunity to work alongside skilled boat builders. This year, students constructed a five-foot skipjack, modeled after the traditional oyster-dredging boats that once crowded the Bay. Every plank, frame and joint brings a new opportunity to apply math, geometry, measurement and critical thinking. Students are learning to read boat plans, make adjustments and solve problems as they arise—just like real boatbuilders.
