Congrats to Tess Farkas on being named the Athlete of the Year on the All-Gratiot County Herald Track squad. As a junior, Tess was this year’s Shot Put State Champion in Division IV. She was also All-State in the Discus. We are lucky that Tess will be back next year as a senior to represent the Shark Tank.

Tess also earns top academic marks at SLHS as she is in National Honor Society, as well. She assists in community service projects as she is also a member of Rotary Interact. Above all that, Tess is a genuinely nice person who is extremely humble. Go Sharks!!

Ross Pavlik,
Our sophomore has been putting in the work all season, and his improvement has been incredible to watch. Finishing 9th at the state meet is a tremendous accomplishment and something he should be very proud of. His dedication, growth, and commitment to getting better every day have truly paid off. Congratulations on a great season Ross!!

What a joy it has been to watch our junior thrower this season! Finishing 3rd and earning All-State honors in discus is an incredible accomplishment. What an amazing way to finish your season! Earning 3rd place in shot put and being named All-State is an accomplishment that reflects not only your talent, but also your dedication, perseverance, and hard work throughout the season.
From when you tried out shot put for the 1st time a few short months ago, you set an example of what it means to compete with determination and represent your team with pride in a small amount of time. Your success on the biggest stage is well deserved, and we couldn't be more proud of everything you've achieved.
Thank you for the leadership, positivity, and commitment you've brought to our program this season! You have left a lasting impact on your teammates and coaches, and your accomplishments will be remembered for years to come.

What an incredible accomplishment! Not just because of the title, but because of everything it took to get there. The extra throws, the tough practices, the setbacks, the determination, and the belief in yourself when the outcome was still uncertain.
You have represented our team, your family, and your community with strength, humility, and class. Watching you grow as an athlete has been rewarding.
Today, you stand at the top of the podium as a State Champion in shot put, and no one can ever take that away from you. You earned every inch of every throw and every moment of this success.
