25 years ago, September 11 changed our country.

Today we remember those who lost their lives, the first responders who ran toward danger, the families forever changed and the men and women whose service was shaped by what followed.

For many veterans and first responders in our community, this day carries a personal weight.

We will never forget.

Yesterday, we announced an exciting next step in our work to better understand and validate the impact of therapeutic kayak fishing.

Heroes on the Water is partnering with Texas State University on a pilot research study examining how participation in our therapeutic programs may affect stress-related biomarkers, including cortisol and testosterone.

This research will help us move beyond self-reported experiences and begin building a deeper understanding of what happens physiologically when participants spend time on the water.

It’s an important step in strengthening the evidence behind nature-based therapeutic recreation, and a milestone we’ve been working toward for years.

On September 11, 2001, our world changed forever. It is a day that we will NEVER FORGET those Heroes that ran in so that others could run out.

Each year at MISSION BBQ Columbia, we make September 11th a very special day. It is our privilege to

Honor and Support Our Hometown Heroes. As a small gesture of appreciation, all Firefighters,

First Responders, and Police Officers are served a Free Sandwich.

At noon, we will have a live version of the National Anthem and we will thank all our local

Firefighters, First Responders, and Police Officers in attendance for what they do for Our

Communities. It would be our privilege to SERVE you.

Su***de Prevention Awareness Month is a reminder to pay attention, stay connected and know the signs that someone may need more support.

Because su***de prevention starts with awareness.

Changes in behavior, withdrawal, hopelessness and other warning signs can tell us when someone may be carrying more than we realize. Knowing what to look for makes us better prepared to check in, listen and help someone connect with support.

Mission BBQ is hosting their annual Gold Star Family Luncheon at MISSION BBQ, honoring the service
and sacrifice of Gold Star Families, the Gold Star community, and their heroes.
