Anyone recognize the golfers in this pic?

In the early 1900’s the new mayor, Alvah Patee “Pet” Clayton decided there should be a watering station for horses and people in the south end of town. He commissioned a fountain at what is now the intersection of King Hill Avenue and Lake Avenue, where there was a natural spring located. The fountain was engraved with the phrase “Have One With Pet”.

After many years of use, the spring was diverted and in the late 1930s, city planners wanted to do away with the non-functional fountain. The Moila Shriners heard about the plans to demolish the fountain, and decided they would relocate it to the Moila Shrine Temple property. Pet Clayton had been the Potentate at Moila, and had served as the Imperial Potentate, the head of all the Shrine Temples in the world, so they felt the fountain which bears his name should be preserved.

The fountain was placed southwest of the main Moila building, and still stands there today to greet members and visitors, and to honor Imperial Sir Alvah Patee “Pet” Clayton.

Hopefully by now everyone has had the chance to see the pool area and all of the improvements made this spring. Our new manager, Emily and her crew have put a lot of hard work into preparing for this season and have more projects still in the works!

Long time members will recognize a return to the standards that made the pool area one of Moila's crown jewels. We are committed to making Moila a private, fun, safe, and clean place for your whole family to relax and enjoy their summers!

We look forward to spending the summer with you as we work hard to regain our reputation as the cleanest and best staffed pool in Northwest Missouri.
