Claytakers Shotgun Sports

Learn to shoot the games of Trap, S***t and 5-Stand. Our primary focus is for young athletes from grades 6 to 12 to have fun learning to shoot a gun.

Safety is first and foremost required and is the backbone of all shooting sports. Did you know that shooting sports are the safest sport in high school. According to Clay Target League: "With more than 30,000 student athletes that have participated in more than 330,000 events that have shot more than 20 million times, there has been no reported injuries since the Clay Target League started in 2001!" Compared to the other sports that's impressive. Yes, shooting is a sport and is featured in the Olympics. Imagine your child as one of the next Olympians. Want to shoot for fun? Come out and learn to shoot for the fun of it. It will be a skill they can use the rest of their life. No pressure, no minimum requirements, just learn and see how much fun shooting can be. Want to learn s***t and sporting clays also? Let one of the coaches know and we'll help you get there.

Heads up everybody! No s***t tomorrow July 5th and probably Tuesday! We've seen some storm damage and lost part of our fence. Hope to have it planned to fix by next sunday.Looking for volunteers.

Wow! 250 Years! Congratulations America 🇺🇸! Keep supporting your clubs. Get out there and volunteer at your local range! They are desperate for your help. We need shooting sports more now, than any of us realize.

Sunday finished the first part of the state competition which started friday and went through sunday. We started our shoot on saturday at one o'clock and then all day sunda. Over three hundred shells per athlete were shot in those 2 days.
While we didn't receive any awards this year, here is how close we were:
Out of 290 athletes of all skill levels, Nick achieved the top 50% at a 124th position, Cruz reached 232nd position, and Jax reached the 297th position.
In their division, intermediate entry, which is younger than high school, and in their first year of shooting, Nick came in 2nd with a score of 168, just shy of top scorer by 18 broken clays. He beat out 29 other athletes. Cruz achieved the top 50% at 14th position, and Jax was at 30.
If you all include all intermediate divisions, which increases the athlete count to 80.Nick, at 19, was in the top 25%, Cruz at 54, and Jax at 79.
If you include all the athletes, non collegiate, which means not in college, a total of 275 athletes, Nick achieved 113th position, Cruz 218th position, and Jax 272
Out of 12 teams total in the intermediate entry division.We achieved 4th place just short of 3rd by 18 clays. We now wait till the 27th to shoot our next three hundred plus shells to finish out the state competition for sporting and trap.

What a beautiful day yesterday! Sun shining, cool breeze blowing, and CLAYS FLYING.
Great job Nick on placing 3rd in doubles trap and sporting as a one man team!
Also congrats for getting 1st Place in his division for breaking 73 out of 100 in Doubles Trap. Doubles is where 2 birds fly out of the trap house at the same time.

It's official! Distinguished Expert in 2 disciplines! Lillian Zizkovsky received her Distinguished in r***e earlier this year and after the Howard Township Conservation youth shoot she achieved her Distinguished in sh***un. CONGRATULATIONS! Dad is one of the coaches and it was hard not letting him know. All he knew was that she was close.

Southwest Michigan Youth Trap Shoot wrapped this weekend. What a great event and opportunity to shoot with other shooters and teams. This event is held around the middle of May at Howard Township Conservation Club. Come join us next year!
