As we sat down at our meeting for girls soccer, we were asked why we were there. While everyone had a different answer, I think we can all agree on one reason to be there. Being a girl on a guys team is a huge disadvantage, so while we are advocating for the sport we love we are also advocating for the little girls who dream of making it big one day. They don’t deserve to have their dream crushed just because they don’t have an equal opportunity.

hi everyone! my name is maya chahine and i’m a junior at SJOHS. i have been playing soccer from kindergarten-5th grade and then i joined running knowing the fact we don’t have a girls team to keep playing my favorite sport. after running all through middle school i decided to play on the co-ed team in highschool. soccer has always been an important sport to me however, we need your help with creating an all girls soccer team for our highschool. if you are interested the link for the forms are in the bio and your are helping us get one more step closer to creating an all girls team and building a better future for the females of our soccer community:)

Girls are currently allowed to play on the co-ed team during the boy's season in the fall, but we want to start an all girl's team that plays in the spring instead!

hey guys! my name is madeline and i am a freshman at sjohs. i have been playing soccer for nine years now. as many know i am the only girl in my class on our co-ed team. although as i have realized i am not even close to the only one interested in playing. soccer is not just about the sport but about the environment. it gives you memories you will never forget and friendships that you will cherish. if you support the idea of having an all girls team please help us spread the message around!

Hey everyone, I am Teagan Miller and a senior at SJOHS. This is my second year playing soccer on our CoED soccer team. I once played as a young kid but decided to run as I grew up, as my love fell through for running I was so happy to be able to join back up with soccer. For the future female athletes of our school, I want them to be able to stick with soccer as something they love and be able to have a girls team in high school to work for and look forward to.

What’s up! My name is Emily Elsbernd and I’m a senior on the SJO soccer team. I’ve played soccer for twelve years, including six years of club with the boys before playing for the high school team for four years. I want a girl’s team for our future Lady Spartans because nothing beats the support and fun of playing with girls who love a sport as much as you do!

Hi!! I’m Olivia and a Senior on the soccer team. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. I played on SJFC club soccer 12u team. I decided to continue my soccer passion through high-school soccer sophomore year and have played the last three years on the varsity team. ⚽️ I would love for us to help promote soccer for the young girls in our community so that one day they too can follow their dreams.
