A Cut Above Knife and Leather Co LLC What sets A Cut Above Knife & Leather co apart is how your items are sharpened and cared for in our shop. We understand the need for a sharp, capable blade.

We use 5-6 belts followed by leather stropping instead of a typical two-part sharpening approach to ensure that your blade is sharp, capable & safe. As a firefighter myself I understand the need for quality items. Leather in the fire service goes back to the beginning of the fire service. Leather goods have become a tradition as well as a symbol to a firefighter.

You usually don’t notice your knife getting dull all at once.

You just start pushing a little harder.

Making an extra pass.

Fighting with something that used to cut clean.

Then you finally use a properly sharpened knife again and realize just how dull yours had gotten. 😂

Kitchen knives, hunting knives, pocket knives, chisels, lawn and garden tools and plenty more come across my bench.

There’s something to be said for people who know how to work with their hands.

The ones building things. Fixing things. Making things. Running calls. Working long shifts. Getting dirty. And doing the job right even when nobody’s watching.

ACAKLC was built around that same mentality.

Whether I’m at the firehouse, behind the grinder, working a piece of leather or finishing a custom knife, I’ve always believed that if you’re going to put your name on something, you better be proud of the work behind it.

On a busy week, we’re doing about 800 chisels.
On an average week, we’re doing about 600 chisels.
A slow week keeps us around 500 chisels.

As of today, we have sharpened 8, 018 chisels this year.

It’s a lot of chisels.
It’s a lot of sharpening.

But it keeps us busy and I’m grateful for that!
