🇺🇸 September 11 — We Remember

As you make your way around the course, you’ll notice American flags placed in each pin. 🇺🇸

The shepherd hooks are there to respectfully rest the flags on the ground while golfers play, as a reminder of the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the families forever changed on September 11, 2001.

We kindly ask everyone to please use the shepherd hooks and treat the flags with the respect they deserve.

We would like to take the time to recognize and appreciate Troy Looney, our Course Superintendent, as we celebrate National Golf Course Superintendent Day! ⛳️

We did a little Q&A with Troy about his experience as a golf course superintendent, his time at The Emerald, and what he loves about the job. Here’s what he had to say:

Q: How many years have you been with us at The Emerald?

A: Started in 04

Q: What made you want to become a superintendent?

A: I enjoy working outside. I combined my love of golf, golf courses, successful experience, my opportunities, and gave turf management a chance.

Q: What is your favorite part about your job?

A: Every day is a challenge I am confident I can meet.

Q: What is your favorite hole on the course and why?

A: 13. I like the rolling shape, the risk and reward from the tee. The blend of precise golf and natural challenges.

Q: If you could give advice to the next generation of golf course superintendents, what advice would you give them?

A: Get as much experience as possible, as soon as possible. The opportunities are available if you go for it.

💚⛳ Remembering Our Friend, Steve Nobis ⛳💚

The Emerald family is deeply saddened by the passing of Steve Nobis, a longtime cherished member of our golf family.

Steve loved golf, but even more, he loved the friendships, laughs, and memories made on the course. His familiar face and presence at The Emerald will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

We are grateful for the many rounds, conversations, and memories shared with Steve over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jane, his daughters, grandchildren, and the entire Nobis family.

Rest easy, Steve. Save us a tee time. 💚🏌️‍♂️
