Self-defense is about a lot more than knowing how to fight.
At Apex Krav Maga, we teach the totality of self-defense—what you do before, during, and after a critical incident.
One of the concepts we teach is the Three Barriers of Personal Safety:
🔹 PHYSICAL – Use your environment to protect yourself. Locked doors, closed windows, lighting, distance, and physical obstacles can all make you a harder target.
🔹 VISUAL – It’s not just about you looking at the world—it’s about the world looking at you. Your posture, awareness, confidence, and demeanor can communicate that you are alert and prepared.
🔹 SITUATIONAL – Make safety-conscious decisions before a problem develops. Build good habits, recognize potential danger early, and avoid unnecessarily putting yourself in a compromised position.
The best self-defense situation is the one you recognize, avoid, or prevent before it ever becomes physical.
But sometimes prevention fails.
That’s why we also train our students to respond effectively during a critical incident—and understand what to do afterward.
Prevention. Response. Survival.
That’s the difference between simply learning techniques and developing a complete self-defense skill set.
🥋 Come train with us at Apex Krav Maga and learn practical skills designed for the real world.
