New York State offers the absolute finest in Licensed Professional Guides through the New York State Outdoor Guides Association.

NYSOGA has been supporting New York’s outdoor guides since 1891, and we would love to help more guides across the state get connected.

The New York State Outdoor Guides Association is New York’s oldest and largest professional guiding organization. We support licensed guides in hiking, paddling, hunting, fishing, whitewater, birding, camping, backcountry travel, outdoor education, and more.

NYSOGA helps promote professional guides, supports strong safety standards, works with the DEC on guide licensing and regulations, and provides training opportunities for both new and experienced guides.

But it’s also more than that.

It’s community.
It’s connection.
It’s people who understand muddy boots, early mornings, wild weather, trail stories, fish tales, camp coffee, and the deep love of helping others experience New York’s outdoors safely and confidently.

If you are a licensed guide in New York, we would love to have you as part of NYSOGA!

3rd Alarm Charters brings decades of experience to the waters of Lake Champlain and beyond.

Captain Matt Trombley has been fishing these waters for over 30 years, combining that knowledge with a USCG 100-ton Master Captain’s License and a New York State Guide License. A longtime member of the fire service and an Advanced EMT, safety and professionalism are at the core of every trip.

Joined by First Mate Logan Trombley, who has been on the water since a young age, the team offers guided fishing across Lake Champlain, Vermont waters, and surrounding lakes and rivers. From open water to ice fishing and cast and blast trips, they create opportunities for anglers of all levels.

With 127 miles of water to explore, the goal is simple: a safe, enjoyable trip and a chance to land something memorable.

Ed Moran, NYSOGA’s Region 1 Director, has been a member of Catskill Mountain Search and Rescue since 2018 and currently serves as a Lieutenant with the CMSAR team.

On May 30, Ed will be the guest bartender at Saint James Brewery Tasting Room in St. James, NY, Suffolk County, Region 1, as part of a fundraiser for CMSAR.

All cash tips from the event will go directly to Catskill Mountain Search and Rescue, a team of trained, professional ground search and rescue volunteers. CMSAR assists with search and rescue operations at the request of law enforcement and other authorized agencies throughout the Catskills, across New York State, and in surrounding states.

Their mission is to support the safe recovery of missing or injured persons and to serve their families and communities during critical incidents.

Stop by, say hello to Ed, and support a great volunteer team doing important work across New York and beyond.
