We did a little bottom exploration yesterday. Checked off some cool species for Sc and boxes a stud gag on the last day of the season. Added a swordfish and the box was full. Overall, the jigs outperformed the bait, and we have way too many reef donkeys. Jackson Davis Hunter Cozart

We took advantage of the weather yesterday and got some groceries early. We had a box full of bottom fish by lunch. Picked up and ran deep. Made the run out deep yesterday (8/27). Beautiful ocean all day. Just had to dodge the rain. Michael Pappas, from KOBO Fishing flew out to join us on the trip and showcase his reels. We were looking for a big sword, but couldn’t find one. We did manage a smaller (legal) sword and a nice Wreckfish that bottom out our 50lb scale. The Kobo reels made short work of both fish.
Any of you fishermen that are in the market for a high end electric should at least give them a look. Www.kobofishing.com Michael has combined some of the better features from other leading manufacturers into his reel, and also added things they don’t offer. The real time drag read out is next level! OBX 2024 has come and gone. We were successful, but I wouldn’t say we conquered. Plenty of groceries and memories to go around. Three days of gorgeous weather and very little sleep. We were able to catch the target species (yellowfin tuna), but not in the quantities we wanted. We were also able to catch the endangered (really) Big Eye Thresher, and we saw things that you don’t often see in Sc. After lunch on day three, we decided to do what we knew how. Filled the box with slinger dolphin, tiles and a nice snowy. We will be back again.
