Our trails are super icy with not much snow.
There is snow in the forecast and the cold temps look as though they will hold things together.

You could probably ride if you have a good set of scratchers.

*Snow Trails Update*

Not very good right now. Despite the new snow, we have some large waterholes that need to freeze up and wheel ruts that will need more snow to smooth out.
Cold temps and snow are in the forecast. But it will be a while before we get back on track.

We have been packing the trails rather consistently since the first of the month. But, the trails will definitely take a hit over the next couple days. We had a good base started and hopefully it will withstand much of Mother Natures abuse. Time will tell. Temps are supposed to drop starting tonight and there is a little snow in the forecast. I would rate the conditions as poor right now. The tractors will be parked until conditions improve. -SEN

**SNOWMOBILE TRAIL UPDATE**

We are in pretty good shape considering it’s mid-December.
Plenty of snow on the trails.

The base is building but, going easy on the throttle will help keep it in place
A little snirty and thin in some areas, mostly corners.

Get out and ride!

Cool story!
πŸ‘πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

Last Wednesday we had a Groomer Operator Meeting for our current operators & welcoming anyone new that wanted to help out. One of the attendees shared this with some of his friends after the meeting & wanted us to share it with all of you as well.

"On Wednesday I attended the HSSC Groomers meeting at the Pellston Barn. I wanted to learn more about possibly becoming a groomer to help the club as I've saw them asking for volunteers. I've helped with brushing previously and am considering volunteering more. I learned basically all the volunteers also have full time jobs unlike myself with a very limited part time job. I also learned that it takes one hour to get the tractor ready before it even hits the trail. The tractor & drag have about 60 grease fittings that need grease each time it leaves the barn, oil checked, hydraulic fluid checked, several air filter checks, multiple lights / flashers checked, paperwork completed for DNR funding & 40 gallons of fuel added. I was with the tractor that does the grade between Alanson & Mackinaw, that run takes 8-9 hours plus the 1-hour tractor checklist. Before Wednesday night I would have guessed it was a 4-hour job. I always had much respect for the groomer. That respect doubled if not tripled Wednesday night. I'm writing you, my snowmobile friends because we sometimes can be a little critical of clubs when we come across some rough trails around the state. Just wanted to let you know a little bit of what goes on behind the scenes."

Thank you, Ken, for sharing this with us! We appreciate your willingness to help out and for spreading the word about how much work and time our dedicated members put into the trails.

***SNOW TRAIL UPDATE***

We are out packing trails 6, 69, 641 and 222 today. The base will be thin, but it's a start. People have been riding which is awesome. Please keep in mind while your out there that building a base is a process that takes a decent amount of snow and cold temps.
Please go easy on the throttle during this period and we will have a base that can withstand abuse from all forms of traffic.
