Snow Canyon Trail Rides Horseback Trail Rides in Southern Utah

Whether you are an experienced rider or a first timer you will have the adventure of a lifetime viewing the rising Red and White Navajo Sandstone cliffs that are layered with black lava flows. The unique advantage of being on horseback with one of our professional guides will allow you to take in many of the colorful desert plants and the opportunity to view the elusive wildlife that roam the park

which includes desert tortoises, quail, roadrunners, kit foxes, coyotes, as well as the peregrine falcons flying above it all. You may also ride horses on the Red Mountain Trail for cooler temps in the summer to access the spectacular overlook at the north rim of Snow Canyon.

When I ask people how they are enjoying the “Rim Ride”, the answer is almost always the same, “It’s breathtaking!” You can see why.

Engelmann’s hedgehog, a particularly nice specimen. It can be seen on our Cottonwood Hills trail ride. It’s been blooming for the last four days and has drawn a lot of oohs and aahs from our riders.

There’s nothing like rolling in the mud after a big breakfast and snoozing in the sun on a Christmas morning with your best buddy!

This is a Spiny Star barrel cactus. There are very few of these in the Red Mountain Wilderness Area and they are widely disbursed. Rarely do you see them close to one another.
The flowers tend to last only a day or two and I believe it is due to rodent predation. There is no surface water here so the animals that reside here must derive their water from the plants they eat. Desert flowers offer exactly what they need. Because the flowers don’t last long they are not pollinated and therefore don’t produce seeds. That may explain the rarity of the Spiny Star in the area.
