One of my favorite holes in Arizona

How many greens do you hit in a round?

High handicaps hit wedges until they catch a few clean and call it a good session. Scratch golfers train a skill. Different yardages. Different trajectories. One ball. Pressure. Consequences. If you dump 50 balls at the same flag and think you practiced, you didn’t — you just got exercise. Range confidence and on-course confidence aren’t the same thing.

Stop trying to create speed from the top.

The golfers who yank from the top usually lose sequence, lose center contact, and lose consistency. Speed should build and peak closer to impact. Think of it like cracking a whip — it starts smooth, then accelerates.

When speed shows up too early, you’re already slowing down by impact. When it shows up later, you create more compression, better timing, and effortless power.

Most golfers have zero rhythm and zero width… then wonder why they can’t break 90 consistently.

They rush everything, get narrow, throw the club from the top, and spend their entire golf career trying to time up chaos.

My swing works because it’s built around rhythm and width.

Rhythm keeps the sequence under control when pressure shows up. Width gives me space so I don’t have to save the swing with perfect timing every shot.

That’s what most golfers don’t understand.

Elite golf isn’t about swinging harder.
It’s about creating a motion that holds up when your timing isn’t perfect.

Anybody can hit one good shot.

The best players have swings that survive the bad days too.

Most golfers think scratch players make everything from 20+ feet.
They don’t.

The real difference from 21 feet is what happens after the first putt.

A scratch golfer controls speed, leaves it inside 2 feet, and almost never 3-putts.
A high handicap golfer turns one difficult putt into another difficult putt.

The gap isn’t putting stroke mechanics.
It’s distance control, awareness, and eliminating damage.

Great putting isn’t about making more bombs.
It’s about making the next putt stress free. ⛳️

Most golfers try to change their swing to shape the ball… that’s where it all goes wrong.

Shot shape is controlled by your setup, not a swing rebuild.

Want a draw?
➡️ Close your stance slightly
➡️ Aim the face just right of target
➡️ Swing along your body line

Want a fade?
➡️ Open your stance
➡️ Aim the face just left of target
➡️ Swing along your body line

Same swing. Different setup. Different ball flight.

Stop manipulating the club mid-swing.
Start controlling it before you even take it back.

That’s how you actually own your ball flight.

From 15 yards… this is where the gap really shows.

A scratch golfer isn’t trying to get it on the green… they’re trying to get it inside 3 feet.

A 10 handicap?
Just hoping it lands somewhere close.

Scratch golfers:
• Control trajectory
• Control spin
• Pick precise landing spots
• Expect to make it

10 handicaps:
• Guess the shot
• No landing spot
• Inconsistent contact
• Playing defense immediately

Same distance.
Completely different standards.

That’s the difference between playing golf… and scoring in golf.

If you want to lower your scores, stop aiming for the green… and start owning your landing spot.
