St. Thomas More Track and Field celebrates an incredible night at sectionals, where six athletes punched their tickets to the WIAA State Championships.

The Lady Cavs 400‑meter relay team, Madagbeh Fofana ’28, Leigha Wardlow ’27, Sophia Lobenhofer ’26, and Janai Blakley ’26, made history as the first relay squad STM has sent to state since 2005.

Brody Oleson ‘26 returns to the state stage in the 400‑meter dash for the second consecutive year, and Teagan Burnom ‘26 earns her second state appearance, this time in the women’s discus.

The entire program is proud of every athlete who competed at sectionals. Whether advancing or not, their grit, heart, and support for one another made it a meet to remember.

The Lady Cavs are conference champions once again. With a total of 145 points, they secured the title by a narrow margin of eight points, proof that every race, every relay leg, every throw, and every cheer from the infield mattered.

This victory belongs to every athlete on the roster. Whether they scored points or not, their presence, energy, and commitment carried the team to the top.

TESS IS WHEATON BOUND!💙🧡

From the 4x800m relay to the 3200m run, captain Tess Ganski (‘26) has always been the athlete who is first to arrive, last to leave, and leads by example. She embodies faith, service, community, and a joy that lifts every teammate around her.

St. Thomas More Track and Field celebrates her commitment to Wheaton College, where she will continue her academic and athletic career.

She lives her faith with every step she takes, and anyone who meets Tess experiences the love of Christ through her. We pray that Christ’s love will continue to guide her in all that lies ahead of her.

RECORD BREAKER

Brody Oleson set a new STM school record in the 400m with a time of 50.13, surpassing the previous mark of 50.33 set by Jay Karas in 1994.

He now joins his uncle, STM’s men’s pole vault record holder Todd Oleson, on the school record board, continuing a remarkable family legacy.

RECORD BREAKER‼️

Teagan Burnom (STM ‘26) has broken the school shot‑put record with a throw of 37’4”, surpassing Mallory Stiglitz’s 37’0” mark set in 2003.

A special thank‑you is due to all the coaches and supporters who helped make this milestone possible, including Coach Dr. Robert Teske, Coach Isabelle Thompson, and Mom Carrie Ann whose guidance played a key role in this history‑making performance.

St. Thomas More Track opened its outdoor season with a strong showing, highlighted by a 1st‑place finish for the women and a solid 4th‑place finish for the men. Athletes stepped into new events, competed hard, and showed the steady commitment that’s been building all preseason.

A key moment, for this team, came from Teagan Burnom, who broke the school shot‑put record with a throw of 37’4”, surpassing Mallory Stiglitz’s 37’0” mark set in 1995, a proud, history‑making start to the season.
