Yesterday’s post about lollipops was proof of one simple thing: most people overthink magic.

We’ve been conditioned to think you need rare herbs, expensive crystals, or some ancient ritual setup to do effective work.

You don't.

Magic isn't in the fancy aesthetic it’s in the mechanics, the symbolism, and your ability to direct intent.

If you understand how an object physically works in the real world, you know how to use it in spellcraft. Period.

Here are 10 different ways to break down a basic lollipop and use its actual physical properties in your work:

🍭 Slow-Drip Abundance: A spoonful of sugar dissolves fast for a quick burst of cash. A lollipop is engineered to last. Use it when you need steady, continuous money flow that doesn't burn out in a week.

🍭 Sweetening Bitter Speech: If someone is coming at you with attitude or harsh words, carve their name into the stick or wrapper and dissolve it in warm water. You're literally coating their mouth in sugar so they can't speak to you without gentleness.

🍭 The Sticky Mouth Speech Binding: Wet hard candy gets nasty and tacky. Press a slip of paper with a liar’s name or a piece of gossip directly onto that sticky surface. It symbolically locks their tongue to the roof of their mouth so the secrets can't spill out.

🍭 Step-by-Step Manifestation: If you have a multi-layered pop, assign a specific phase of your goal to each color layer. As each layer wears down, you move into the next phase of the project. No skipping steps.

🍭 Hard-Shell Armor: That outer casing exists to protect what's inside. Use it as a visual anchor to build a solid, smooth boundary around your own energy—keeping outside toxicity out while holding your core safe inside.

🍭 Shattering Stalemates: Need to break through a block now? Don't wait around for it to melt. Take a hammer to it inside a bag or bite right through the shell. That sudden, violent crack releases all the energy at once to break a standstill.

🍭 Digging for Core Truths: Use the literal process of working your way down from the hard shell to the chewy center as a focus while doing divination or journaling. You aren't stopping until you hit the actual root of the problem.

🍭 Poppet Spines & Handles: Don't throw away the plastic or paper stick when the candy is gone. That stick is a rigid, structural anchor. Use it as the spine for a mini poppet, a frame for a herb bundle, or a core for knot magic.

🍭 Glamour & Aura Shifts: Stop overcomplicating glamours. Pick a flavor and bright color that matches the mood you need; cherry for raw confidence, blue raspberry to stay calm and unbothered and use that sensory shift to lock in your energy before you walk out the door.

🍭 Complete Dissolving (Erasure): Sugar melts down to absolutely nothing under running water. Write a minor worry or unwanted situation on the surface and hold it under the tap until it completely disappears down the drain. Zero trace left.

The point of doing this isn't just to talk about candy.

It’s to force you to stop looking at spellcraft like a recipe book and start looking at the world around you like a toolkit.

Spot on! Clairalience is easily my most active clair, and it definitely deserves more love. My husband can literally tell by the look on my face the second a random scent hits me and starts asking who or what I'm picking up on! My first vivid experience was with an entity who smoked heavily in life. Ever since, I make it a point to stay really intentional whenever a scent pops up that feels out of place.

Clairalience — What is it? How does it work? What exactly does it mean? Post 11

Clairalience — it means that you have the ability to interact with energy via smell, no matter if it is people, places, spirits, guides, angels, demons, astral, whatever you wanna call it. The energy, when you interact with it, is going to be via smell.

This is one of those clairs that I feel is very overlooked, and I feel like it's because it's a little strange to most people. However, I find it really interesting because your sense of smell can transport you through time and into different places.

When you associate a particular scent, a particular smell, with a specific memory, when you smell this particular smell, it's going to bring this memory to the forefront.

Time travel, if you will.

And I think it's freaking cool to have a clair that works off of your smell.

Example:

Let’s say you go over to your friend Clary’s house one afternoon. As soon as you walk through the door, you catch the faintest scent of roses — maybe a floral perfume, something sweet and familiar.

You look around, wondering if she’s been wearing a new perfume or burning something, so you ask her, “Did you get a new perfume? I keep smelling roses.”

She looks at you a little confused and says, “No. I’m not wearing anything.”

Then she pauses.

“Actually… my grandmother always wore a rose perfume before she passed.”

And suddenly, that faint scent makes a whole lot more sense. You may have just picked up on the presence of her grandmother through scent — essentially receiving a little hello from someone who isn’t physically there.

So her grandmother likely could be there watching over her, and you just got the hint of her via her perfume.

Now, sometimes it's going to come really potent. Like, there's not going to be a mistake in the world. Like, you smell what you smell.

Other times, it might be kind of faint. And then other times, it'll be like a faint passing smell. And then you take that deep breath to try to get a better idea of what you just smelled, and it's gone.

Bye. It's not there.

Now say, in your own personal experience, you know, your granddad — he loved his to***co. Like, he completely and utterly loved his to***co. And you work with ancestors.

Well, granddaddy dearest, he might want to remind you, like, "Hey, I'm still around."

So he will give you a sense of his to***co every now and again to remind you, "Hey, I'm looking out for you."

Other times, if you work with your ancestors, they very well might continuously harass you with a particular smell, not only to send you a message, but to say, "Hey, I want this as an offering on the altar."

And that goes for ancestors, deity, spirit guides, the lot.

No matter what you work with, they can use it as a way to send you messages because, again, your sense of smell is associated with memories as well.

So if they do the same thing, if they make you smell the same thing, they could be trying to send you a message via your memory based on that smell, or they could just want that particular item as an offering.

This particular clair tends to be more associated with mediums versus divination, but in my opinion, why tie yourself down?

You could do it for both, or whichever. It's completely up to you.

You can also smell liars if somebody is lying to you.

Now, it's going to change based on you, like you as a person, whoever is reading this. It's going to change.

Like, one person might smell a liar's energy when they tell a lie — it's like a decaying banana, you know, something just gross.

Yuck.

Another person, when they get told a lie, it might smell just as sugary sweet, or maybe it smells like a bouquet of roses.

But that's going to change, like I said, based on who you are and how you're going to be receptive to that energy.

Now, somebody's happy — maybe it smells like sunshine. You know, maybe it smells like a dandelion.

That is going to be up to each and every one of you.

Now my question to you:

Walking through the veil isn’t some aesthetic, fluffy meditation where you just close your eyes and pretend.

It’s not about lighting a candle, closing your eyes for five minutes, and convincing yourself you’re talking to the cosmos.

It’s a real, heavy, physical and spiritual shift.

When you actually cross that threshold, there is no guessing.

Your entire system registers it instantly.

A dense, all-encompassing energy wraps around you like a heavy blanket, and every cell in your body knows right away: this is not the energy I live in.

The air feels thicker, linear time completely drops away, and your physical senses yield to something much older.

On the other side, the landscape opens up.

You see raw energetic currents moving through the dark, you face sovereign entities and beings who operate on ancient laws, and you walk through spaces your physical eyes have never seen.

But the most intense part of crossing over isn't even what you see out there; it’s what happens inside your own chest.

A part of your spirit that has lain completely dormant, a part of your power that has never so much as moved before in your everyday life, suddenly wakes up and stretches its limbs.

You realize you weren't just visiting a strange land; you were born with the internal wiring to navigate it.

Working with the veil isn’t an absolute requirement of the craft, but let’s be real; few witches, pagans, or occultists can resist that threshold forever.

Eventually, the boundaries thin, the curiosity turns into an itch, and you find yourself standing at the edge of the known, ready to pull back the curtain and step into the unseen.
