🚨Just like that all sessions for Year 2 at our facility are done. 🚨
As I sit here and reflect, I have all sorts of emotions running through. Gratitude, respect, elation, excitement, nervousness, and others I can’t even describe. Truth is I didn’t think I’d make it because this year was rough for many reasons, so much so, I reached out to my broker to look for potential opportunities to take over our location or sell the business. When in the throes of things sometimes you don’t or can’t see past in front of you. Every time I get closed to the edge and ready to throw in the towel, something big happened with one of our players or I’d get a message from a parent to remind me of WHY I chose to open the facility to begin with. Conversation with trusted friends and mentors made me realize that I spent way too much time acquiring clients on top of everything else I was doing instead of focusing on delivering the best possible development for my current clients.
After a conversation with my accountant, I made the decision to adjust our prices and subscriptions model. I’ll be honest, I was very reluctant because I was afraid I was going to loose more clients than I already was and yeah I did. What also happened was that our MM Basketball families rallied and said “whatever we need to do, we got it” I was floored and man I’m grateful. They adjusted to the new costs and subscription model with no complaints because they see and understand the value we bring to our players.
I look at all the new milestones our guys reached this year, I can simply shake my head in happiness. Here are a short few milestones just this year
- EP becoming more vocal leader and all around better player
- Saima received an offer
- Hayden’s growth in a short time, wow
- the Perkins twins continuing to develop
- Brayden battling through major leg surgery and still showing up working on other skills while legs heal
- Big guard Vibe playing JV as incoming 9th grader
- B-Ro making a name for himself playing for the Heat and name top performers
- Wilder & Andrew increasing their shooting by almost double digit.
- Amaya to BSU next year
-Graham learning to play with pace
-Levi improving his footwork when he’s making his moves and getting into his shot
-Clara playing under control
And many more……
The one thing that happens here that I’m super proud is the camaraderie between the parents when they’re here. Our parents will make new parents feel at ease when/if they feel nervousness from new ones. They truly make us the family we are.
Year 2, lessons learned, milestones reached, success attained.
Year 3. The marathon continues….
