Chicagoland rink owners only! Merry Xmas and happy new year!!!! Have fun!

Also forgot to mention. Use our previous videos over the years on this FB page for helpful hints on pretty much everything you need to know about rinks. From start to finish when it’s safe how to clean and how to fix is on this page in the videos.

Good luck and get ready to hunker down with snow and cold!

With the potential snow on the way and rinks not being frozen yet. WAIT TO TRY AND SHOVEL!!!

Right now the rinks have about 1.5” ice thickness. No where close to being safe to clean. The snow and deep freeze are hitting about the same time Thursday and will not gain much more ice thickness till after it starts.

Depending on the amount of snow we get it could potentially build up enough weight and push the frozen slab downward. When this happens the water will come up through sides and snow will absorb the moisture creating almost instant layering of the ice thickness. Snow is also an insulator so the only way to beat it is time.

With the extreme cold temps this weekend it will help freeze much faster.

DO NOT TRY TO SHOVEL TO EARLY!!! If you start you have to finish otherwise once the snow is “cracked” open it will freeze into a giant mess.

Also do not leave any marks in the snow. It will fossilize and leave you nothing but more work.

My suggestion right now is to leave alone until Saturday or Sunday to even check. It will take at least that long to be safe.

Happy holidays to all!

100% of our rinks are built and flooded.

With the current forecast rinks will not ready until later next week just prior to Xmas. Please do not get on the rinks too early!!!

My suggestion to everyone is leave them alone until Dec 23 and see what the weather does. They will not be ready for skating prior to that day and I will post updates as we get closer.

BE PATIENT! Mother Nature wins every time! Don’t fight her…

Chicagoland rink owners. Snow is not a problem. Stay off the rinks and let Mother Nature do her thing. Too early to try and do anything and the cold won’t be here until middle to end of next week anyways.

Don’t even try and get on the rinks until later next week after the cold hits for a couple days. You will go through the ice and puncture the liner. Year ending mistake!

Start checking the rinks Thursday Jan 6th-Friday Jan 7th. At the earliest that may be the start of rinks being safe.

You can always look through our videos on this page for any tips.

Have a safe skating season!
