📚COUNSELOR. 🏀COACH. 🏆CHAMPION

As we conclude American Education Week, we proudly shine a spotlight on one of Aurora’s newest and most dynamic educators: Coach David Brown, who this semester joined the Counseling Department at Marmion Academy.

While he may be new to Marmion’s faculty, Dave is certainly no stranger to the school community. For the past five years, he has served as a devoted basketball coach for Marmion’s boys’ program .... and will continue to lead and inspire student-athletes. Now, he brings that same passion and purpose into the academic halls.

🎓Mr. Brown teaches the Freshmen Skills Course, serves as Marmion’s substitute coordinator, and supports students daily through collaborative work with fellow counselors, teachers, and administrators. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Recreation & Sports Management from Western Michigan University and is currently completing his Master’s in Special Education, reflecting his deep commitment to helping all students succeed.

🎖Before joining Marmion full-time, Coach Brown spent two years at Addison Trail High School and brings nearly a decade of coaching experience for both boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. His coaching credentials are reinforced by an outstanding collegiate playing career as a standout point guard for the Western Michigan Broncos, where he earned First Team All-MAC Tournament MVP honors during the 2013–2014 season, was named the MAC Sixth Man of the Year in 2012–2013, was selected as an IBCA First Team 3A/4A All-State player, won an NIC-10 Championship, and was a two-time NIC-10 MVP.

✅Beyond his school roles, Coach Dave is the Founder of All About Basketball, a premier personal training program focused on the mental and physical development of youth and adult athletes. His work emphasizes skill-building, confidence, and holistic growth, on and off the court.

Dave's commitment to helping student-athletes excel, build character, and strengthen their self-confidence makes him an invaluable addition to Marmion’s Counseling Department and to the broader Aurora education community.

👏🏾Congratulations, Coach Brown, on your dual impact in the classroom and on the court! Aurora is proud to celebrate you during American Education Week and beyond.

Hello everyone!! I hope all is well! Camps are rolling out!! Come on out and join the fun of learning the game of basketball the right way!!

✅ Skill Development
Where we focus on footwork, attacking angles, balance, tempo, and rhythm.

✅ Shooting
Understanding hand placement, release point, consistency, balance, driving through the heel and toes.

✅ Combo moves
Making the game simple. We want athletes to attack with set ups and 1-2 combo moves, anything more is wasted movement.

✅ Respect
We teach and respect all! We do not push anyone away that wants to learn the game!!

These are just a few things we teach at AAB. Come on out and see the fun for yourself.
