MEET THE FACULTY!
Embody Dance Collective is proud to have an incredibly talented and experienced faculty who bring passion, expertise, and a genuine love of dance into every class. Our teachers are dedicated to helping each dancer grow in confidence, technique, artistry, and most importantly, their love for movement. 🤍
Today we’d like to introduce you to Katisha Muhammad!
Katisha knew from a young age that dance would always be special to her. After a few recreational classes growing up and time on her middle school poms team, she tried out for her high school dance team her senior year - following five years of playing other sports. She went on to study Dance Performance at Northern Illinois University, training under instructors including Randy Newsom, Judy Chitwood, Paula Franz, and Dr. Charles Carter. While there, she choreographed for Rhythm Nation, one of the university’s student-led Hip Hop teams. For over 13 years, Katisha has been a dedicated dance educator specializing in Hip Hop and Jazz Funk. She has choreographed competition teams for the past 9 years and currently serves as Head Coach of a middle school dance team in DeKalb. Katisha also holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and has worked with children for over 25 years - bringing both deep dance expertise and a passion for youth development to everything she does.
