It happens in small moments. A detail that finally clicks. A challenge that’s faced instead of avoided. Another day spent showing up and doing the work.

Saturday mornings hit different.

Professor Tony teaches creative, highly technical Jiu Jitsu that helps students think differently about the positions they’re already familiar with. Strong fundamentals. New perspectives. At Deep Roots, we believe the value of competition is not only found on the podium, but also in the growth that comes from testing yourself and stepping beyond your comfort zone. This weekend, these athletes embraced the challenge, learned, grew, and represented our academy with courage, humility, and heart. Congratulations to our Deep Roots Jiu Jitsu students who represented our team at TAP Cancer Out!

We’re incredibly proud of the way our students stepped up, challenged themselves, and competed in support of an amazing cause. Every athlete showed courage, sportsmanship, and a willingness to test themselves on the mats.

Special recognition to:
🥈 Jaxon Fernandes for earning 2nd Place
🥉 Liam Godfrey for earning 3rd Place
🔥 Crew Kennedy for battling through a tough bracket and securing a couple of hard-fought wins against tough opponents
👏 Jessica Fernandes for stepping up with just one week as a blue belt and fearlessly taking on a much more experienced opponent

Results are great, but we’re even more proud of the character, determination, and heart our students showed throughout the day. Win or lose, they represented Deep Roots with humility, grit, and respect while supporting an incredible cause.

Congratulations to everyone who competed and represented our team so well.
