Reminder.... it is election day here in St. Johns County. Bike St Augustine was founded to ensure safe cycling was given a voice since it was being ignored for so long. We have come a long way... but still can do so much more!

County races include 2 candidates running on a slate who have publically mocked working wage community members as well as trail projects. Bike St. Augustine has had to work hard so that one of them, who is the incumbent, wouldn't take away the bike trail and many other projects.

We aren't going to tell you who to vote for, but from where we see it, we will vote long term locals over special interest groups. You can private message if you want some guidance. But the big thing is to go vote TODAY

Fully funded. Long planned. One critical link still missing.
The St. Johns County trail from the river to the ocean won’t work without completing the connection through St. Augustine Beach.
This isn’t just a trail—it’s:

The trail looks different as it transitions from rural St. Johns County to urban areas like the City, Anastasia Blvd, A1A Beach Blvd and SR A1A. The SJC SUN Trail, part of the SJR2C Loop, is a separated continuous facility connecting rural to the ocean. The design leaves the center turn lane on A1A....

If you’ve driven A1A Beach Boulevard, you’ve seen the problem—tight sidewalks, blind spots, and too many close calls.
The trail is fixing it. We have comments for the design team, and perhaps you do to? What we know:
By shifting the curb just 8 feet, we create safe space for everyone—from 8 to 80. Walkers. Cyclists. Families.
Better visibility means fewer near misses. Shorter crossings mean safer streets. It’s fully ADA-compliant, with sea turtle–friendly lighting that protects what makes our coast special And we’re adding pervious surface!
