Time continues forward and as we move into a generation of kids who will only know this tragic event as something they've read about in schoolbooks or through the memories of others, we'd like to share this simple message:
"They may not know or find reason to care, but we can guide them in understanding that this day was more than just pages in their books from something that happened long ago. That they, too, can find value in learning about 9/11 that they can use as a guide in their own lives."
So, when we're hit with the question, "but why should I care?"
We can say: "While this day grows further away from us in time and feels more and more irrelevant to you and the generations to come, this will be something that each and every one of us can always learn from. This day was a tragedy, filled with pain and loss; but also in the strength, courage, and patriotism, that one day we hope you'll find in you."
Here's to keeping the importance of 9/11 alive and to showing the generations to come why history will always be something they can learn and grow from.
