Happy Saturday Fit Fam! We wanted to send a quick update on K9 Fit Club classes. With COVID-19 restrictions being lifted, we want to get back to working out with people and their dogs. But SAFETY is still our first priority. Since our classes are group training circuits, we do not yet have a CDC approved way of sanitizing equipment in between that allows adequate dry time for people and pets. Our awesome trainer is working with her dog Jeannie on programming our “Just the Dog” class which will solve this problem. We hope to be bringing this option to you very soon!

Some bunny is waiting for her Easter egg hunt🐰

How many of you did a fun easter egg treat hunt for your dogs? It’s a great way to promote mental stimulation.

Here’s how:
🐣 Grab some plastic Easter eggs.
If the eggs don’t have a hole in the end, poke a hole to allow the scent to escape.
🐶 Add your dog’s favorite, strong-smelling treats to each egg. Allow your dog to watch what you are doing, especially if he is new to nose work activities.
🐕 With your dog out of sight, hide those eggs! Consider your dog’s level of experience with nose work when choosing hiding spots. If your dog is new, keep the eggs at nose level where they can be seen fairly easily.
🐾 Bring your dog back into the room and have fun helping to search for those treat-filled eggs!
✨ Many dogs will gently pop the egg open and sn**ch the treats, but you might need to provide some assistance. If your dog is a strong chewer, it's probably best to skip the plastic eggs and just hide the treats around your house.

DOG WALKING IS MY CARDIO ✌🏼

Walking is the easiest way to get started on working out with your dog! Did you know that 150 minutes a week of moderate physical activity is recommended? That could be achieved with 5- 30 minute walks per week with your dog. If you can’t do that much, that’s okay. Get started with a walk around the block and then try to add an additional 5 minutes to each walk each week.

🚨🐶 K9 Fit Club classes are canceled until further notice, but HAVING FUN WITH YOUR DOG is NOT CANCELLED!
Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting information and fun ideas to keep you and your dog fit, entertained & strengthen your bond during self quarantine!

To our K9 Fit Club Family & Friends:
To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus we will be canceling K9 Fit Club Classes for at least the next two weeks. Even though our class sizes are already small, outdoors, and teams stay several feet apart, we do not want to put any of our fit family at risk of transmission. As a healthcare worker I am seeing that the virus is wildly contagious just from people contacting surfaces such as equipment. People are spreading the virus even before they display symptoms or know they are infected! The NSIA where classes are held recommended postponing for classes for 2 weeks and we will be following that recommendation. In addition, the Vilano bridge run and after party this Saturday have also been canceled. We love you guys and want to keep you safe and healthy! 💙
