Join our vibrant Kyokushin community in St. Louis and elevate your spirit with strength and tradition. Kyokushin Karate – A “Hard” Karate Style. As a martial art, we pursue karate by revising kihon(basics), kata(pattern), and buki(weapons) of karate. In our trainings, we emphasize on courtesy that modern Japanese are losing. Kyokushin focuses on realistic unarmed combat. It is exemplified by the “

spirit” of Kyokushin, which states
“The heart of our karate is real fighting. There can be no proof without real fighting. Without proof there is no trust. Without trust there is no respect. This is a definition in the world of Martial Arts.”

The trainings include movement training, kata analysis, introduction of traditional weapons techniques such as the Bo staff, Sai, Tonfa, and Nunchucks. We also incorporate elements of fists training using makiwara(rolled straw), sunabukuro(sandbag), and Chinese martial arts (Iken). There are a wide variety of training methods that we use in our trainings.
