Hello Georgia Families,
For this season and moving forward, the Georgia and St. Albans Little League boards have decided to merge the two programs. Over the past several seasons, registrations have decreased for both organizations. This has led to difficulties in placing players in the correct divisions, right-sizing teams, and forming all-star teams at the end of the regular season. If we were unable to merge, it would be very difficult to enter any all-star teams into tournament play for our minors (9 & 10 year-olds) and majors (11 & 12 year-olds) divisions this season. Last season, Georgia Little League and St. Albans Little League partnered for the all-star season only, with the team name, Champlain. Together, we were able to enter five all-star teams into tournament play. This proved very successful and got the ball rolling on a permanent solution. As noted above, Georgia residents will still register on the Georgia Little League website. As far as what to expect this season, here are some bullet points:
• The T-Ball and Baseball Coach Pitch divisions will remain largely unchanged. The plan is to have Georgia kids play in Georgia and St. Albans kids play in St. Albans.
• The Softball Coach-Pitch division will consist of teams that will be mixed with both Georgia kids and St. Albans kids. Practices and home games will be held at either Georgia Beach or St. Albans Bay Park.
• A Machine-Pitch division will be added for Baseball. This will serve to bridge the gap between the Coach Pitch division and the Minors division. This division will consist of teams mixed with both Georgia kids and St. Albans kids. Baseball players placed on a Machine-Pitch team will practice and play games at Cioffi Park in St. Albans.
• The Baseball Minors and Majors divisions will consist of teams that will be mixed with both Georgia kids and St. Albans kids. Practices and home games will be held at either Georgia Beach or Cioffi Park in St. Albans.
• The Softball Minors and Majors divisions will consist of teams that will be mixed with both Georgia kids and St. Albans kids. Practices and home games will be held at either Georgia Beach or St. Albans Bay Park.
• Evaluations will be held at the Collins-Perley Complex on Saturday, March 25 to help determine which division your child will play in this season.
