We’re missing a few pictures from Saturday, but we still wanted to share a glimpse of what an incredible weekend it was.
On Saturday, our Grades 3–6 wrestled in the State Tournament, followed by our K–2 wrestlers competing today. We are so grateful for everyone who made this weekend possible—parents, coaches, wrestlers, referees, table workers, and all the spectators who showed their support.
Wrestling truly is one of the greatest sports. It teaches kids so much—not just about competition, but about themselves. This weekend was full of character-building moments: blood, sweat, and yes, plenty of tears. All of it plays a role in shaping strong, resilient young people.
We are proud and honored to represent the sport of wrestling here in St. Albans, VT. The future is bright, and we’re already looking forward to next season—bigger and better things ahead!

At first glance
A wrestling coach teaches takedowns
Setups
Conditioning
How to win matches

That is the surface level

Underneath that
A real wrestling coach is teaching something far more important

How to suffer without quitting
How to stay calm while your lungs are on fire
How to keep moving when your body is asking you to stop

This is not accidental

The wrestling room is a controlled environment for adversity
Pressure
Fatigue
Uncertainty
Failure

The coach does not remove these things
He exposes you to them
Over and over
Until you realize they are survivable

This is where the real education happens

You learn that discomfort is not an emergency
That effort is a choice
That discipline beats motivation
Because motivation disappears the moment things get hard

Years later
When life applies pressure
Deadlines
Loss
Responsibility
Self doubt

You recognize the feeling

You have been here before

Not on a mat
But in a room that taught you how to endure
How to listen
How to take correction without ego
How to show up on days you would rather stay home

A good wrestling coach does not just prepare you for matches

He prepares you for life

And long after the last whistle
The lesson remains
